Background of the issue:
I am importing multilanguage posts through WP ALL Import. I successfully created an English post and matched the Japanese translation to the post. I am using the site hidden link.

Symptoms:
When I click the edit language, the Japanese translation in WPML of that post is empty. Additionally, when I click preview for the post on the website, it is not able to switch to the other language. I tried using WPML Import & Export and selected 'I'm importing from another site,' but I only see instructions and no automatic language matching.

Questions:
Why is the Japanese translation empty when I click edit language in WPML?
Why can't I switch to the other language when previewing the post on the website?
How can I automatically match languages when importing from another site using WPML Import & Export?

Thanks for your patience.

I need to check your Website backend to understand the issue. Therefore, I will require temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to a test site where the problem has been replicated, if possible. This will enable me to provide better assistance and determine if any configurations need to be modified.

Please note that it is important to have a backup for security purposes and to prevent any potential data loss. You can use the UpdraftPlus plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/) to fulfill your backup requirements.

Your upcoming reply will be treated with confidentiality and will only be visible to you and me.

✙ To resolve the issue, I may need your consent to deactivate and reactivate plugins and the theme, as well as make configuration changes on the site if necessary. This emphasizes the significance of having a backup.

Thank you for your response.

I've reviewed your website and understand your explanation. When you import content from another website, it remains stored on your website, for example, at hidden link . However, to utilize the Advanced Translation Editor, you must manually input translations into it for them to be saved in the translation memory.

Importing content directly does not automatically save it into the Advanced Translation Editor's translation memory. I hope this clarifies the process.

Dear Kor,

Thank you for your response.

So if I understand correctly.

1. I still need to fill in the translation Line-By-Line in the advanced Translation Editor? So that WPML can recognize it? And allow switching to other language for the same post?

2. There are no other way? We have more than 100 posts in 5 languages, we really hope could handle the bulk import directly. OR even I can stop using Advanced translate editor for these old posts that are imported, but continue to use Advance editor for newly created posts in the future?

Thank you!

Hello Kor,

I've just followed the instruction here:
hidden link

Especially added the custom field of these into the English & Japanese import file
_wpml_import_translation_group
_wpml_import_language_code
_wpml_import_source_language_code
_wpml_import_after_process_post_status

Then when I visited WPML Import & Export, I can see the Run Import button.
After I ran the Run Import, the problem is still here.
- English post is here.
- Japanese post is here.
But even I've set _wpml_import_translation_group as the same number for the same post of multi-language, they didn't connect.

e.g. when I view the english post, there are nop option to switch to the Japanese post.

Thank you for your response.

Updating translations in the Advanced Translation Editor isn't necessary for displaying translated pages. If you've imported the translated posts, it should appear on the frontend.

Upon reviewing your translated posts, I noticed that most of them are marked as "scheduled." This means they haven't been published and won't display on the frontend. Please refer to the attached screenshot hidden link and publish these posts accordingly.
