The product category base is correctly translated from "our products" in English to "nuestros products" in Spanish in the admin area. However, the website is not translating it to Spanish, so I get a 404 error on all the Spanish pages that have that taxonomy in the URL.
I already checked the WP memory limit and reset the permalinks.
I understand the issue you're having. When I tried to access the VINOS TINTOS category by directly typing the URL(hidden link), the child category page opens without any issues. Please check this screenshot: hidden link
But, when I tried to access the category by clicking the child category link below the category name(Screenshot: hidden link), I encountered the 404 error.
Could you please share how this feature was implemented? If it was added by your theme, it's possible that the links were not processed through the WPML filter. This could explain why the product category base is not updating correctly with the language settings.
In that case, could you please reach out to the theme's author or support team to confirm if they have integrated WPML support? Specifically, ask if the WPML filters have been implemented for the subcategory list so that the category links display correctly in each language.
Please let me know the update. I will be happy to help if you need further assistance in this matter.
Hi Prosenjit, thanks for your reply. The feature was implemented manually, not by the theme, and I have had for about years now. It always worked well, except yesterday it started giving this error.
The issue is happening only in the subcategories. The main category is working correctly, for example:
hidden link is linking correctly to its Spanish version page hidden link
But then I get the error when I try the subcategories (red wines to vinos tintos).
It's not theme related as I haven't updated or changed the theme.
As the section is added by the theme, please be informed that the theme is not currently listed on our compatibility list, which you can verify here: https://wpml.org/theme/. It's possible that the issue could be related to compatibility.
To further investigate, I kindly request you to replicate the issue in our sandbox environment. Here's the autologin link to the sandbox:

WPML and its addons are already installed in the sandbox. Please complete their setup, then install your theme and any other plugins necessary to recreate the issue as it occurs on your main site.
Once everything is set up, try to replicate the issue. If you encounter the same problem in the sandbox, please let me know. I'll take a closer look and advise you on the next steps.
Testing in this controlled, minimal environment helps us determine if the issue is due to a conflict or a specific configuration, which is crucial for pinpointing the root cause.
As I mentioned, I've used this theme with WPML for 6 years without issues, and I have not made changes to the theme in the past week, the time the issue started happening. Moreover, the theme is WPML compatible.
Can you please connect with another support staff?
I don't think we are communicating well, and I don't think it's been helpful. Please let me know how I can get support from someone else on the team. Thanks!
Hi There,
I hope you're doing well. Sorry for the delay in responding due to the weekend.
The theme description states that it is WPML compatible, but it appears they haven't submitted the theme for official compatibility testing, which is why it isn't listed on the WPML compatible theme list.
That's why I shared the sandbox environment with you, so you can replicate the issue. This allows us to determine whether the problem is widespread or specific to your site. If we find any adjustments in WPML that can resolve the issue, we will certainly make those changes to help fix it for you. I apologize if my previous response seemed helpful but my intention is to assist you in resolving the issue by going through a systematic approach. I hope you can understand.
If you can't replicate the issue in sandbox or the process sounds difficult, I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue. It would be better to have a testing site where the issue is replicated.
You will find the needed fields below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.
Maybe I'll need to replicate your site locally. For this, I’ll need to temporarily install a plugin called “Duplicator” or "All in One WP Migration" on your site. This will allow me to create a copy of your site and your content. Once the problem is resolved I will delete the local site. Let me know if this is ok with you.
IMPORTANT
-Please backup site files and database before providing us access.
-If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this: hidden link
Looking forward to your response.
Best Regards,
Prosenjit
