Tell us what you are trying to do?
I want to delete hundreds of old 'zombie' blog posts. However, when I delete a post I noticed that the images are not deleted. So I went to the Media Library just to try to permanently delete a media file. Even if I do this on both languages the image URL can be reached as the file is not removed from the server.

I’ve tried to Go to WPML > Settings > Posts and Pages synchronization > and checked the box "When deleting a post, delete translations as well" (and saved of course).

Still, the problem persists. The files are only deleted from the Media Library, not from the server.

Can you please help me with this?
The best would be if the images are deleted everywhere when I delete and trash the blog posts.

What is the link to your site?

Hello

The physical file will remain undeleted until the last reference to it is also deleted.

I just tested this on my local site and this is the way the plugin is behaving.
Here is a description of how it works:

So please make sure that the media library in all languages has this record removed.

Hi,
Thank you for your reply! I'm sorry, but this didn't help me. My issue still remains and I don't understand how to solve it?

When I try to permanently delete something from the media library, it remains in the folder on the server. Even if it's deleted from both languages, it's still on the server. Also, I have this activated under WPML settings: "When deleting a post, delete translations as well".

Hmmm.

1. Diagnostic.

Please try the following.
- First, temporarily deactivate your non-WPML plugins and change your active theme to TwentyTwenty.

- Then upload a new image
- With this new temporary configuratio, please now delete the image form the library in both languages.

- Is the physical file still present?

If so, then please do the same test but this time with WPML CMS deactivated.
Is the result the same?

Thanks for your help in doing these tests.
