The gear icon stays forever and it doesn't finish the translation. It constantly says it's in progress with the translation but it never finishes. It was working fine before. See the printscreen.
Before proceeding further, may I ask you to try the following?
IMPORTANT: Take full backup of your website and database beforehand. It is highly advised to try the following on a staging/dev site first, so your live website isn't compromised.
- Deactivate all plugins except WPML and its addons and check for the issue.
- Activate each plugin one-by-one, while keeping check on the issue after a plugin is activated. This way you'll be able to pinpoint a plugin having a conflict (or problem), if any.
- If the problem persists, repeat the above steps with a default theme of WordPress (i.e. 2021 or 2023).
- Also check the browser's console for any JavaScript errors. If you find any, copy that in your next reply. See https://wordpress.org/support/article/using-your-browser-to-diagnose-javascript-errors/ for details on how to find these errors.
Please let me know and I'll try my best to help you further on the matter.
I need to take a closer look at your site. So I request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP), preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated.
Your next answer will be private, to share this information safely.
Also provide detailed steps to reproduce the issue and links to pages in admin and on frontend.
IMPORTANT: Please take a complete backup of the site to avoid data loss. I may need to activate/deactivate plugins also.
I checked pages and products but only in products I could find those "in progress" (gear icon). So I tried a couple of those manually, in ATE translations were complete. I clicked the "Complete" button again and it was updated fine.
In this dev site, automatic translation isn't enabled, while I see the translations were sent for automatic translation.
I check few others randomly and then simply cancelled all in-progress automatic jobs from WPML -> Troubleshooting. Now there's no in-progress but can you please check and confirm if translations were not lost? Because as per my observation, translations were completed, only the statuses weren't. So cancelling shouldn't be a problem.
However, if by any chance, you see that translations weren't updated, can you retry sending just a couple of these again for automatic translation and see if that works fine?
I did a few translations which updated fine. However, after a couple more I'm back stuck at having the gear icon. It seems to be limited to a certain amount of translations each day.
I noticed that every day I can do a couple of translations and after that it gets blocked for the rest of the day and even when I click complete, it doesn't show the pencil icon.
I have to wait another day to do a couple of more translations.
Somewhere there is a rate limit but I don't know where.
I found a relevant issue in our forums about unknown column 'ate_sync_count' where it seems to be missing from "wp_icl_translate_job" column.
I tried to repopulate the said table without any luck, so I have added the missing column manually. I installed phpMyAdmin plugin in your site to access the DB and do the above mentioned.
Can you please try again by cancelling existing jobs and then sending again? And see if it helps getting rid of the current issue.
