This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are trying to use automatic translations for strings in WPML, but the option to translate automatically is not appearing in String Translations. Instead, you can only add strings to the translation basket, which only allows assigning them to a translator, not to machine translation.
Solution:
1. To enable automatic translation for strings, you need to first send them to the translation basket and assign the translation job to a translator (you can assign it to yourself).
2. Then, navigate to WPML -> Translations, start the translation, and use the automatic translation option in the Advanced Translation Editor (ATE).
Alternatively, you can install the WPML 4.7 beta version, which includes the option to translate strings automatically. However, ensure you create a full site backup before installing the beta version to avoid potential issues.

Background of the issue:
I am trying to translate strings using automatic translations which are set up on the account and have been used on Pages/Posts. However, when I go to String Translations and select the string, there are no options to translate automatically.

Symptoms:
The automatic translation option is not showing in String Translations. I can only add strings to the translation basket, which only allows me to assign them to a translator, not to machine translation.

Questions:
Why is the automatic translation option not available in String Translations?
How can I enable machine translation for strings?

Hi there,

After consulting with our 2nd tier specialists, the option to automatically translate the strings from String Translation was disabled. To automatically translate the strings you need to send them to the translation basket -> Assign the translation job to a translator (you can assign it to your own user). Then the user must go to WPML -> Translations -> Start the translation and use the automatic translation option in ATE.

Alternatively, you can install the WPML 4.7 beta version, which includes the option to translate the strings automatically. However, you must proceed carefully and create a full site backup before installing the beta version because it might contain errors.
