Hi,
I'm working on a website for a client. I have set up automatic translation with DeepL and have added a new language today to see how everything works. Almost all of the content has been translated automatically, but I'm running into an issue with strings:

There are several strings that I need translated. I looked them up in WPML Strings, checked them, selected the language to translate to, and clicked on Translate. As far as my experience goes (and your documentation) that is all that should be required.

Nothing happens. I have tried multiple times, but none of the strings are processed.

Do you have an idea what might be causing this?

Thanks for your help

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching us. Could you please check the translation job in WPML > Translation Management > Jobs tab and try to locate the strings? Then, cancel the jobs for the string translation and retranslate it again.

If the issue persists, I will need to closely examine your website. Therefore, I will require temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to a test site where the problem has been replicated, if possible. This will enable me to provide better assistance and determine if any configurations need to be modified.

Please note that it is important to have a backup for security purposes and to prevent any potential data loss. You can use the UpdraftPlus plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/) to fulfill your backup requirements.

Your upcoming reply will be treated with confidentiality and will only be visible to you and me.

✙ To resolve the issue, I may need your consent to deactivate and reactivate plugins and the theme, as well as make configuration changes on the site if necessary. This emphasizes the significance of having a backup.

Thanks for your reply.

Please try deactivating the "Automatic Translation" here in the "Translation Mode" hidden link . Then, the jobs tab will appear.

Or please perform a backup and click on the "Cancel in-progress automatic jobs" button here hidden link

Hi Kor,
I just disabled automatic translation and went to the Jobs tab.

I see a lot of strings jobs I submitted. All on "completed". But when I look in the strings, the French translations are not present, nor are they on the frontend (see widgets in footer).

Thanks for your reply.

I've checked using the String Translation here hidden link and I noticed that French language is not translated. Maybe you can try to submit it for automatic translation again and see if it works now?

Hi Kor,
I've reactivated automatic translation again, and submitted the strings again. Same result, not working.

Thanks for your reply.

I can't seem to open the jobs tab and there seems to be some conflict with another plugin that is preventing the translations from working.

Are you able to clone the site to another staging site so that I can deactivate some plugins for troubleshooting purposes?

Hi Kor,

yes, we have a staging site. I will ask my client to set up automatic translation for that one, so we can test. I will let you know when it is available.
