This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem:
The client is experiencing an issue with automatically translating URLs as mentioned in the WPML documentation. They are inquiring about when this bug will be fixed and if there are any available workarounds.
Solution:
We requested the client to provide debug information to better understand the specifics of the issue, which can be provided using the instructions found here: https://wpml.org/faq/provide-debug-information-faster-support/.
We clarified that while internal links should automatically translate and display correctly in the second language, manual translation of internal links within buttons via the ATE WPML editor is currently not supported. We are working on this feature, but there is no exact estimated time of arrival; it is tentatively scheduled for approximately one month from now.
If this solution does not resolve your issue or seems irrelevant due to being outdated or not applicable to your case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If further assistance is needed, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.
