Hi,

I've been working for 2 months with wpml and wow what a lot of work but it is great! Last week my seo specialist told me the url structure is not seo proof because of the Default local parameters is not visible. Right now I have hidden link but we need ofcourse hidden link. I also see in my settings in wpml this is correctly installed.

Please let me know how we can change this?

Also I want to duplicate some languages because in Belgium they speak also dutch so I would create nl_BE. But I also going to do this for Zwitserland and Oostenrijk. Please let me know how I can do this..

Last time Prosenjit helped me so so good. He is a very go co worker!

Hi,

thanks for contacting us.

The default locale is one thing, the URL another.
URLs in WPML are based on language code (the second column) and you can't change that.

If you really want to change the language code you need to create custom languages and delete the "old" ones https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/editing-wpmls-languages-table/

Hi,

And what about the hreflang? Isn't this for google seo so google understand which country and which language we target. Thank you for you help Laura!

Hi,

Hreflang is an HTML attribute used to specify the language and geographical targeting of a webpage. If you have multiple versions of the same page in different languages, you can use the hreflang tag to tell search engines like Google about these variations.

Please find more detailed information related in this link:
https://wpml.org/documentation/support/adding-hreflang-wordpress/

I wish you find this information helpful.

Let us know if you have any more questions.

Regards,
Marsel
