Background of the issue:
I am trying to update our posts and add new content. Recently, I noticed that images with URLs are no longer showing in the ATE for URL translation. The images are translated in Media Translation, and the image, ALT, and Description are all translated correctly. I believe the image URLs used to be available in the ATE for translation - and are no longer visable. On our other posts which have not been updated and re-translated lately, all works fine. Link to a page where the issue can be seen: hidden link

Symptoms:
Images with URLs are not appearing in the ATE for URL translation. In most cases, the image is translating correctly, but the URL remains in the primary language - English for all these images. In one case, the image has been translated in Media Translation but is displayed on our posts in the sidebar widget and is being translated in String Translation after adding it from 'admin screens' -this image AND URL remain in English.

Questions:
Why are images with URLs no longer showing in the ATE for URL translation?
Why does the URL remain in the primary language even though the image is translated?

Hi,

Thanks for contacting WPML forums support. I'll be glad to help you today.

First of all, sorry for the late reply; it was due to a higher workload.

I need your permission to install the duplicator plugin, which will create a local copy of your site so that I can debug the issue without affecting your live site.

Best regards,
Osama

Hi,

Thanks for updating the plugin. I installed a local copy of your site and was able to see the URLs correctly in the translation editor after the following steps:

1- Deactivate all of the plugins except:
* WPML and String Translation
* Elementor and Elementor Pro
* Directorist plugins
2- Activate the parent theme
3- Edit the page using Elementor in the default language
4- Make a minor edit and update it
5- Update the translation using the translation editor

After the above steps, I was able to see the URLs correctly. Please try these steps on your site.

If the issue is gone, activate the plugins one by one to see which is causing an interaction issue.

❌ Please back up your database before the above test ❌

Best regards,
Osama

Hi Osama

I can't do this on our live site - we can't afford for it to not be functioning (even if for just a short while).

So I created another staging site (an exact and up-to-date clone).

However, when I reach your Step 5 - Update the minor edit in the ATE - there is no content showing in the ATE and when I click on save translation, everything then appears in English on the newly translated page.

I activated ALL WPML extensions, but still the same issue.

I can not replicate successfully like you have.

As it seems to work for you, are you able to identify the problem plugin?

or
Can you advise why the ATE no longer shows any of the main content?

The attached images show all the segments that appear (for a post with 3000 words) - no content.

Hi,

Thanks for the access details. I checked the staging site, but the page seems as if it was not created using Elementor. (hidden link)

That might be why you don't see the page's content in ATE.

Best regards,
Osama

It was created in Elementor, and I made the recent change in Elementor to add the two s's after the bullet point FAQ. See screenshot.

I will try again with another post

Ok so i edited another post in Elementor on this staging site:

hidden link

This time all content appeared in the ATE when doing a French translation.

hidden link

BUT all URLS that are not internal Posts or Pages are now untranslated (or to describe it differently - the URL in the translation column is a copy of the original language).
See highlighted segments in screenshot.

These have definitely all been previously translated - this can be seen by looking at the same page, BUT on our live site - if you look at the Get Your Guide banners as an example on the French page, you will see they have "/fr" on the end of the URL.

hidden link

But as soon as I open the post in the ATE their segments will not appear.

Hi,

I added the following XML to WPML-> Settings-> Custom XML tab.

<wpml-config>
<elementor-widgets>
  <widget name="image">
  <fields>
    <field>image>alt</field>
    <field>link>url</field>
    </fields>
  </widget>
  </elementor-widgets>
</wpml-config>

After that, I was able to see the URLs correctly in ATE. (Kindly check the attached screenshot)

Please complete the translation of the post and let me know if the URLs are translated correctly on the front end. (hidden link)

Best regards,
Osama
