This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are setting up English translations on your website but despite adding English translations, the site continues to display Danish content on the English pages. The translation editor shows the correct English text, but the saved page still shows Danish text.
Solution:
If you're experiencing this issue, we recommend you try the following steps:
1. Go to WPML > Settings and enable the option 'Use also for old translations created with the classic editor'.
2. Navigate to your Dashboard > Pages.
3. Open the edit screen of the original page. Look for a pencil/circle/gear icon in the sidebar options under the "Languages" section.
4. Make a small change, such as adding an extra blank space at the end of a sentence or paragraph.
5. Save the changes. You should now see that a circular arrow appears beside the second language's links, indicating that an update is required.
6. Edit the translation again and ensure it is saved up to 100% translated.

This solution might be irrelevant if it’s outdated or not applicable to your case. We highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the issue persists, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.

Background of the issue:
I am setting up English translations on dexabodyscan.dk. Despite adding English translations, the site continues to display Danish content on the English pages. The link to a page where the issue can be seen is hidden link.

Symptoms:
The site displays Danish content on English pages, the link structure doesn’t work properly, and Danish text appears on buttons of the English version. The translation editor shows the correct English text, but the saved page still shows Danish text.

Questions:
Why does the site display Danish content on English pages despite adding translations?
How can I fix the link structure and button text issues on the English version?

Hi,

Welcome to WPML support. I checked the English page and I see that for example the header menu items work ok but the inner content does not.

Footer also works ok. Would you please test to see if the same thing happens on a minimal installation?

- IMPORTANT STEP! Create a backup of your website. Or better approach will be to test this on a copy/staging version of the website to avoid any disruption of a live website.
- Go to "WordPress Dashboard > Plugins" and deactivate all plugins except WPML and its add-ons.
- Check if you can still recreate the issue.
- If not, re-activate your plugins one by one and check the issue each time to find out the plugin that causes the problem.

Please also test by enabling the parent Divi theme and not the child theme for testing.

Thanks.

Hi Support Team,

I have followed all the suggested troubleshooting steps, but the issue still persists. I deactivated all plugins except WPML and its add-ons, but the problem was still there. I also switched to the Divi parent theme instead of the child theme without any improvement. I cleared cache and rebuilt the translation cache using the options in WPML > Support > Troubleshooting, including clearing cache for translated pages and rebuilding the translation cache, but this did not resolve the issue.

Additionally, I checked the language and permalink settings, made sure the URL settings were correct, and re-saved the permalinks. I also tried deactivating WPML Sticky Links, but the issue remained the same.

The English pages still show Danish content, despite being translated correctly in the WPML editor. The link structure is broken, and buttons on the English version display Danish text.

Could you please advise on what to try next or if you need temporary admin access to investigate further?

Thank you for your help.

Hi,

Thank you for checking the steps mentioned din the previous reply. I'd appreciate it if you could give me the URL/User/Pass of your WordPress dashboard after you make sure that you have a backup of your website.
It is absolutely important that you give us a guarantee that you have a backup so if something happens you will have a point of restore.

Make sure you set the next reply as private.

Thanks.

Hi,

Sorry for the late reply and thank you fo your patience. We tried to login to the website with various connections but unfortunately most of them either do not work or it says you are locked out of the system:

Your access to this site has been temporarily limited by the site owner

You have been temporarily locked out of this system. This means that you will not be able to log in for a while.

Is it possible that we could have the staging/copy version of the website so we can do the troubleshooting and investigation there without the fear of changing the live website?

I'd appreciate it if you could provide the login information for the website copy.

We can offer to copy your website to our server if there is a need for further investigation but for that we will need you to temporarily deactivate whatever security measure you use to lock us out.

Thanks.

Hi,

Thank you for the login information. I am not sure why but the classic translation editor was enabled for the homepage.

I went to WPML > Settings > and enabled the option below:

Use also for old translations created with the classic editor

After that I followed the steps below and it fixed the issue:

- Go to your Dashboard > Pages.
- Open the edit screen of the original page. You should see a pencil/circle/gear icon in the sidebar options under the "Languages" section.
- Make a small change, for example, add an extra blank space at the end of a sentence/paragraph.
- Save it.
- You should now see that a circular arrow appears beside the 2nd languages links, this means that an update is required.
- Edit the translation again and save it up to 100% translated.

Thanks.

Thanks for that! It helped 🙂

The only thing that's still causing trouble is the links in the footer menu. They still link to the Danish pages instead of the English ones.

Everything else seems to be correct now. Can you figure out why the links aren't switching to the English version?
