This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client reported two issues: First, the admin language setting 'set admin language as editing language' does not change the page language accordingly when switching languages via the top bar. Second, in WPML → String Translation → Domain: admin_texts_widget_text, some strings still show 'Waiting for translation' even after being translated.
Solution:
For the first issue, we escalated it to our team for further investigation. For the second issue regarding the string translation, it appears there was a misconfiguration in the translation settings which we corrected. The correct format should be in the 'woocommerce' textdomain, and the date format was adjusted from "j M Y" to "Y j, M" which resolved the display issue.

If this solution does not resolve your issue, or if it seems outdated or not applicable to your case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Yes, I have never changed the default language in WPML -> Language — it has always been set to Traditional Chinese.

In the USER profile language settings (wp.com), it is correctly set to Traditional Chinese, as shown in the attached image (img 1-1).

I have already selected “set admin language as editing language,” but it doesn’t seem to work. When I select English in the top bar, the page below does not switch to Chinese. However, when I select Chinese in the top bar, the page below still remains in English.

The login link is no longer working, apologies it seems like you might need to share with me the previous access details as they did not copy over to this split ticket.

Sorry, my website is showing the “That page can’t be found” error again.

I’ve tried the previous solution, but it didn’t work this time.

There’s also another issue.
In WPML → String Translation → Domain: admin_texts_widget_text, there are a few strings that, after being translated, still show the “Waiting for translation” indicator upon refreshing the page (please see the attached screenshot).

I haven’t opened a new ticket for these two issues, as I believe assigning multiple Supporters to the same site might cause confusion or overlap.
If necessary, Bobby Supporter, please feel free to branch these into a new ticket.

Thank you again for your kind assistance, and I really appreciate your help with these issues.

Hi there,

I am still discussing the issue at hand here with our 2nd tier, and I will review the above for you as well.

The issue with the checkout pages should be resolved now.

I am not sure what might have caused it but I went to WPML->support->troubleshooting and cleared the WPML cache.

Also, the strings --> you can click on them and update them if needed that is OK, it should open the string and then it will turn to a pencil icon.

The issue with the checkout pages has indeed been resolved.
However, I had already performed the same step — going to WPML -> Support -> Troubleshooting and clearing the WPML cache — but it didn’t work at the time, which is why I brought up the issue.
It’s quite odd. If the problem occurs again in the future, I’ll try it again. Thank you!

As for the second issue, it has also been resolved — thank you very much.
Previously, after updating the translation and seeing the pencil icon appear, refreshing the page would cause it to revert back to the “awaiting translation” exclamation mark icon.
It might have been a minor glitch caused by a WordPress version update — I was probably just overthinking it.
Thanks again for your help!

Alright, I’ll wait for a resolution to this ticket.

Hi there,

The date should be fixed now.

The value by default is "M j, Y" in the 'woocommerce' textdomain.

It was translated to "j M Y" --> after we switch that to Y j, M it now shows OK.
