Hi,

I have managed to translate quite a lot of my site now, but I am facing a few strange issues.

It's really hard to explain in writing so I recorded a short video, where I show you the problem and what I tried to do to solve it.

Here is a link to the video:

Hello Morten,
Thanks for contacting WPML Support. I will try my best to assist you in this matter.

Thanks for nicely explaining everything through the video. I have checked and understood the issue you're having with Translating button text and the text in the Filter.

I attempted to access your site, but it appears to be protected and requires authentication. As you already have tried most of the required steps, I would like to take a closer look to understand the root cause. I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue. As browser authentication is enabled, kindly share the credentials for that as well.

You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.

Maybe I'll need to replicate your site locally. For this, I’ll need to temporarily install a plugin called “Duplicator” or "All in One WP Migration" on your site. This will allow me to create a copy of your site and your content. Once the problem is resolved I will delete the local site. Let me know if this is ok with you.

IMPORTANT
-Please make a backup of site files and database before providing us access.
-If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this:

Looking forward to your response and appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

Best Regards,
Prosenjit

Hello Morten,

Thanks for sharing the access. I've included my findings below.

- Button text not appearing properly in English: The Button text was incorrectly translated in String Translation which is why, it was not showing correctly in the English language. I changed the Translation to "See Project" and the button text started to show properly on Homepage and archive page as well. Please check this video(hidden link) for a better understanding. You can edit the Translation as per your needs by following the process.

- Translating texts in the Filter: It seems the translation for all the text in Filter is added in the String Translation and they also show correctly in the English language. Please check this screenshot(hidden link) for a better understanding.

All the issues you've mentioned in the video seem to be resolved. However, if you require any additional assistance or have further questions, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'm here to help and will be glad to provide further support.

Best Regards,
Prosenjit

Thank you so much Prosenjit. That makes better sense.

However, I still don't understand why I can't do it from the Divi -> Divi Library. It looks like that is where I should do the translation. Please have a look at the attached screenshots.

Wouldn't it make more sense if I did the translation there since that is the template I am using? Instead of having to search for it in the String Translation section it is much easier to just change it there. But if I do that it doesen't take effect at all. Do you have any explanation for that?

Thank you.

Hello Morten,
I hope you're doing well. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

I understand your concern. If you check the Advanced Translation editor, you will find a Badge called "Shortcode-attr" next to "Se Reference". This indicates that "Se Reference" is an attribute of the Shortcode. If you output the attribute on the Frontend somehow, the translation you added in the Advanced Translation editor should take effect.

However, we need to use String Translation to translate text like Button text, Field labels, titles, placeholders, etc. The string translation plugin most of the time immediately registers those types of text so that you can add the translation easily. That's why, you should search for the text in String translation in case you're not finding it in the Advanced Translation editor or if the translation is not working properly in the frontend. I hope you can understand the matter.

But, please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. I will be happy to assist you.

Best Regards,
Prosenjit

Thank you once again. I still find it strange though that it works like that as the attribute on the shortcode should change the text. But hey, it works - just would like to know exactly why it works.. and why it doesen't haha..
