I am building a new website for the company I'm working for and, looking at the future, I wanted to make it not require jQuery any more. I just figured out this is impossible if we want to use WPML since all WPMLs js files seem to require jQuery.
I have read in another post you are looking at updating WPML to not rely on jQuery anymore. Is that still on? Is there a timeframe for that?
correct it is still on, but for now, we do not have any timeframe to share and to be fair with you I do not think it will be anytime soon. Currently, our devs have other priorities.
But I will add your feedback and vote to the ticket in the hope it will help move things forward.
Thanks! It's a bit discapointing really. I am assuming this will be the case for all multilanguage WordPress plugins but, to be fair from my end, I am also looking at the others because of this.

Hi,
This issue has been escalated to WPML developers.
I will keep this thread updated as soon as I get any new information from them (so if developers decide to remove 'jquery' dependency for frontend scripts).
