Background of the issue:
I'm converting a website written in Ruby on Rails at hidden link to WordPress. I've written a custom exporter to produce the contents of the site as a WordPress XML import file. All of the content is written in English and then has been converted into various languages. I included the custom fields like _wpml_import_language_code and after importing, WPML can mark the posts as translations of their originals.

Symptoms:
When I go to Translation Management, the articles are listed as 'not translated' and if I assign them to someone, they get a blank translator with all of the boxes for Gutenberg blocks to translate.

Questions:
Is there a way to re-sync the translation manager so I can see which articles are translated?

Hello,

Let me check if I got it right:
You imported the content and its translations, and this is working fine. As far as I can see on your site, switching languages works fine. BUT the TM says that the pages are not translated, and when you open the editor, the translated content is not there. Is that the issue?

The issue is that it's not recommended to mix translation methods. Please check this documentation:
https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/using-the-translation-editor/switching-from-classic-to-advanced-translation-editor/

Specifically, the FAQ "Can I use the Advanced Translation Editor for pages I translated using another method?"

If you try to edit those translations with the Classic Translation Editor, do you see the content?

Best Regards,
Otto
