[Resolved] Can not update the latest version of WPML. Version 4.6.15
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: You are trying to update to the latest version of WPML and encountering issues due to an Elementor bug. Despite rolling back Elementor and Elementor Pro to version 3.25.5, WPML fails to update, and the String Translation plugin is stuck in a loading loop. Solution: We recommend checking the specific errata related to the Dokan Pro and WPML update issue, which might be causing the update failure and the loading loop in the String Translation plugin. You can find more detailed information and potential fixes here: https://wpml.org/errata/dokan-pro-wpml-update-fails-when-is-active/.
If this solution does not apply to your case, or if it seems outdated, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If issues persist, please open a new support ticket with us for further assistance.

Background of the issue:
I'm trying to update to the latest version of WPML. I saw the documentation about the Elementor bug, which I have also. I rolled back the versions of Elementor and pro to 3.25.5, and tried to load WPML again. This did not resolve the issue.
Symptoms:
WPML failed to update. String Translation stuck in loading loop.
Questions:
Why can't I update WPML to the latest version?
Why is the String Translation plugin stuck in a loading loop?
Before this thread gets assigned to my colleague, I'd like to offer some initial guidance or potential solutions.
I understand the issue. Sometimes, due to site key or server-related hiccups, you may not receive plugin updates or encounter issues while updating the plugin. Please try the following steps to resolve this and update the plugin:
- Navigate to "WPML > Support > Installer Support".
- Click the "Check Now" button. If there are no connectivity errors, you should see a green checkmark.
- Go to "WPML > Support > Troubleshooting".
- Click on "Refresh license data to recognize license update". This will refresh the license information.
- Finally, go to the "Plugins > Add New > Commercial" tab and attempt to install the latest version of the plugin from there.
If you're still having issues, you can download the latest version of the plugins from your WPML.ORG account and manually install them on your site.
To debug this issue further, I would need to check your site settings once, for this I would need temporary access (wp-admin and ftp) to your site.
So could you please provide me with those details, you will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. hidden link
I can see the issue even using my sitekey on your site, do you have a backup of your site available, if yes, can you send me the backup files so I can replicate on my localhost and perform the testings further?
You can also try manual updating, you can follow the below steps:
- Backup your site
- Deactivate WPML plugins from Dashboard->Plugins
- Deleted WPML plugins from Dashboard->Plugins
- Now download the plugins from wpml.org site
- Upload the plugin
You can go to https://wpml.org/account/sites/ and delete the sitekey for that site, once deleted it will take few hours to be reflected on that page as removed.
