This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is unable to translate the media text (like image titles, alt text, captions) of images included in a Divi Gallery Module within posts. The WPML setting to translate media library texts with posts is enabled, but the translator does not provide the option to translate image texts, showing only the default media title.
Solution:
1. Ensure the setting Automatically detect best options for translating image texts is enabled in WPML → Settings under the Media Translation section. This setting is crucial for handling image texts correctly with page builders like Divi.
2. Edit the original post in the primary language, make a minor change (like adding a space or updating a gallery image caption/title), and update the post to trigger WPML to rescan and sync the media texts.
3. Go to WPML → Translation Management or Translation Dashboard, select your post, and open it in the Advanced Translation Editor. You should now see the image titles, alt texts, and captions as separate translation fields. Translate them as needed and save.
4. If different images or media texts per language are needed, use the WPML Media Translation add-on. Access it via WPML → Media Translation, find your image, and click the pencil or plus icon under the language to set different media texts or upload a different image.
5. After saving your translations, verify the translated post on the front-end to ensure the gallery images display the correct translated media texts.
If issues persist, clear your site and browser cache, then repeat steps 2 and 3. If the setting Automatically detect best options for translating image texts is not visible, it may indicate a version-specific issue, and further assistance from a WPML specialist might be necessary. In such cases, please contact our support team for more detailed help.

Please note that this solution might be outdated or not applicable to your specific case. We highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the problem persists, do not hesitate to open a new support ticket.

Background of the issue:
I am trying to translate the media text of all images included in a Divi Gallery Module into posts. My WPML setting is set to translate media library texts with posts. Example of post: French: hidden link and English: hidden link

Symptoms:
The translator does not give me the possibility to provide a translation to any of the images. Instead, I get the default media title.

Questions:
Is there anything I am missing in the WPML settings to translate media text?
Why can't I provide a translation for the images in the Divi Gallery Module?

Thanks for your reply. Please backup and update all WPML plugins to the latest version. Then, install the Media Translation addon as explained here https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/media-translation/ and follow the instructions provided to translate the media information. Let us know how it goes.

Hi,
My site's plugin page does not tel me I have to upgrade WPML. For example, plugin WPML Multilingual CMS is at version 4.7.6 and there is no way to check on this page that there is a new version available.

Also, I don't need to provide different media for my translated posts.

My only problem is that I cannot translate media texts used on Divi Gallery modules.

Please advise.
Thanks,
Bernard

Thanks for your reply. I will require temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to a test site where the problem has been replicated, if possible. This will enable me to provide better assistance and determine if any configurations need to be modified.

Please note that it is important to have a backup for security purposes and to prevent any potential data loss. You can use the UpdraftPlus plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/) to fulfill your backup requirements.

Your upcoming reply will be treated with confidentiality and will only be visible to you and me.

✙ To resolve the issue, I may need your consent to deactivate and reactivate plugins and the theme, as well as make configuration changes on the site if necessary. This emphasizes the significance of having a backup.

Thanks for your reply. I've updated all WPML plugins and installed the Media Translation Addon, and the strings are showing up for translation now. Could you check?

OK, it now looks what was expected.

What exactly fixed the problem. The upgrade and/or the Media Translation Addon? Like I said, I don't need to have another media file for the translated media.

Also, why the upgrade was not possible from my plugin admin page? I have 2 other sites using WPML.

Thanks,
Bernard

Thanks for your reply. You just need to update the WPML plugins to the latest version and install the Media Translation Addon and you'll be able to translate the media information.

Regarding the updates not showing, I suspect the server is blocking some connections. Could you share access to your production site so that I can check?

Thanks for your reply. I've updated all your WPML plugins here hidden link

Now, all you have to do would be to edit the primary language page, hidden link , make minor changes to the page title and translate the page. hidden link

After translation, you can change the title back to its original.

Great! Thank you.

Were you able to figure out why I was not able to know there were updates available?
I have 2 other sites with older versions of WPML plugins.
I guess I can do the upgrades manually, but I would like to know why the possible upgrades are not flagged.

Thanks,
Bernard

Thanks for your reply. Most probably there were some connection issues when our server sent an update notification to your Website. You can check WP > Plugins > Add new > Commercial Tab > Click check for updates on your other Websites.
