I hope this message finds you well. I'm reaching out regarding a persistent issue I've been facing with my website's Time to First Byte (TTFB). My hosting is with Cloudways, and I've been working closely with them and a developer to diagnose the root cause of the slow response times.
My developer has observed that WPML seems to be making a significant number of requests, which might be contributing to the high TTFB. While I understand that plugins, especially translation plugins, can be resource-intensive, I'm concerned about the potential impact on my site's performance.
Given the feedback from my developer and the observations made, I have a few questions and requests:
Diagnostic Tests: Are there any diagnostic tests or tools within WPML or recommended by WPML that can help identify the number and nature of requests being made by the plugin?
Optimization Recommendations: Are there specific settings or configurations within WPML that can help reduce the number of requests or optimize performance? Any best practices or guidelines would be greatly appreciated.
Alternative Solutions: If the number of requests is inherent to the plugin's functionality, are there any alternative solutions or workarounds you can suggest to mitigate the impact on TTFB?
Updates & Patches: Are there any known issues with the current version of WPML that might be causing excessive requests? If so, are there updates or patches available to address this?
I value the functionality that WPML provides for my website, and I'm keen on finding a solution that allows me to continue using the plugin without compromising site performance.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your guidance and recommendations.
Also, please check at WPML -> String Translation and make sure performance-intensive options like Look for strings while pages are rendered, and Track where strings appear on the site are not enabled.
Updates & Patches: We have a current known performance issue with WPML String translation, please check the following erratum and try both the workaround there and see if it helps.
Alternative Solutions: We might need to look into the issue further if the issue persists even after the above solutions please let me know more details on your results with Diagnostic Tests.
Regards,
Subash
