Hello!
I'm having a SEO related issue with our site.

Tell us what you are trying to do?
I did a SEO site audit with Ahrefs and got this "Hreflang to non-canonical" error on pages that are not translated (you can see in the screenshots attached). In the settings we have set the Pages to "use translation if available or fallback to default language" , I'm not sure if this is interfering.

Is there any documentation that you are following?
No

Is there a similar example that we can see?

What is the link to your site?

how can avoid this error? is there a workaround to check if the page has actual translations and only show those as hreflang attributes?

thanks a lot!
kind regards

Hello,

thanks for contacting us.

Actually, that is correct behavior since you have a duplicate page with the same content on the DE language, so the canonical is the default language page.

That is the correct approach to not have Google index the same content 2 times and avoid further issues.

Even though Ahrefs gives this as an error when using multigoal this expected and correct way.

Other way would be to translate the pages correctly and use option to show only translated pages instead of fallback.
