This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You added Italian as a new language on your website and used automatic translation to translate content from English to Italian. However, some texts still appear in English on the Italian version of the site, and some buttons on the Italian pages redirect to the English version.
Solution:
We recommend following these steps to resolve the issue:
1. Edit the home page in the default language.
2. Click the Pencil icon.
3. Search for the string that is still in English.
4. Translate it manually.
Please apply the same steps to other problematic pages.

If this solution does not resolve your issue, or if it seems outdated or irrelevant to your case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the problem persists, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum for further assistance.

Background of the issue:
I added a new language to my website (Italian) to get my content translated using automatic translation to translate everything from English to Italian. It says all done. hidden link

Symptoms:
On the front end, I have some texts still in English (when the Italian language is selected), and some buttons on the Italian pages when clicked still open in the English version.

Questions:
Why are some texts still in English when the Italian language is selected?
Why do some buttons on the Italian pages open in the English version?

Hello,

It is uncommon that we do not see the same issues in Spanish or German. Did you maybe manually adapt those prior translations?

I would like to offer to have a closer look at the problem and request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to the website to investigate this issue further.

You can find the required fields below the comment section when you log in to leave the next reply. The information you provide is private, which means only you and I can see and access it.

IMPORTANT
Please be sure to make a backup copy of the website and database before allowing us access.
If you can't see the wp-admin / FTP fields, your post and website credentials are set as PUBLIC. DO NOT publish the data unless you see the required wp-admin / FTP fields.

Hi,

I'm Osama from WPML forums support. I'll be glad to help you today.

Thanks for the access details. Please update the ACF plugin to the latest version (6.3.3).

After that, please edit all of your field groups to select the translation mode. (Kindly check the attached screenshot)

Please check this guide to know more about ACF translation. (https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/translate-sites-built-with-acf/)

Afterward, please update the page in the default language and its translation.

Best regards,
Osama

After doing this, will the translation be okay on the site? I don't have my license for the ACF update, is that compulsory? Also, what do you mean by "Afterward, please update the page in the default language and its translation." after selecting the same fields across the language?

I've tried implementing some of the stuff mentioned, but I'm not too familiar with most of these stuffs, so it be great if you could do them from your end

Kindly see the attached image from the homepage...Just as seen, we also have untranslated content in bits on other pages. As I said earlier, when you click on a link/button on an Italian page it still opens up in English and not Italian

Hi,

Thanks for the example. I checked the mentioned strings and was able to translate them by the following steps:

1- Edit the home page in the default language
2- Click the "Pencil" icon
3- Search for the string
4- Translate it

Please apply the same steps to the other problematic pages.

Best regards,
Osama

Hi again, I was able to translate the strings manually. Thank you. What's the fix for the second problem "when you click on a link/button on an Italian page it still opens up in English and not Italian"

I have another site with a translation issue as well, I thought the earlier fix would also work for it, but it doesn't. do I open a new ticket or you can also take this up for me?

Hi,

1) Please use the search field inside the translation editor to translate the URLs. Kindly check this guide. (https://wpml.org/faq/how-to-translate-urls-shortcodes-and-html-attributes-using-the-advanced-translation-editor/)

2) We try to keep one issue per ticket in our forum, so may I kindly ask you to open a new ticket for your additional question?

Continuing with one ticket per issue helps supporters focus on one issue at once and enables other users to find solutions to their questions faster.

Best regards,
Osama
