  1. I have already put together the English part of a clients site with a purchased theme. They need a Spanish Version as well and the author of the theme recommended me using WPML. Before purchasing I had a few questions:

    1. Since I already have content for the English part, is that going to be an issue?

    2. Can I add my own translated pages (so for instance, their About page, they already gave me the translated version – can I just add that content?)

    3. How do users switch between languages (right now I have an “Espanol” button that I was thinking would switch the site to the Spanish version, and vise versa).

    4. What about images (they have a timeline jpeg – one in English and one in Spanish on their About page – is there a way to switch these out for either language?)

    Thank you!
    Rose

    • Hi Rose,
      answering your questions:
      1. That’s good that you have content for the English site because WPML doesn’t translate automatically so you will need it anyway. When you install WPML just select English as the site’s primary language.
      2. When you build your multilingual site with WPML, for each post/page you create a new version in another language. Do this for your “About us” page as well and add your translation that you already have.
      3. WPML will generate a language switcher for you based on the languages you have chosen during the setup.
      4. Yes, WPML allows you to translate images as well. To translate images, you will need the CMS or Lifetime subscription (the Blog version doesn’t have this module)

      • I tried to purchase the lifetime membership, both with a credit card and through paypal and it is not letting me. I also had my colleague try a different card and the same thing happened.

Could you please help me with this?

  2. Hello.

We have multiple websites that we are moving to WordPress. One of them requires translation in Spanish, French, Italian and German. Would it be possible to send copy for accuracy? Can we compare the standard translation to the professional services?

  3. Hi, I need to create a one page wp site and decided to buy WPML CMS.

However I have two question marks in my head.

    1. Can I comfortably choose one of the one page templates from themeforest?
I mean, I saw some problems on wpml forums for one page templates.

I need to change all the content to Turkish and English.

    2. After 1 year period, I could’t understand what will I still have if I don’t renew.

    Thanks.

    • Hi,
      1. Here’s the list of themes compatible with WPML:
      https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/
For each theme, it says when the theme was last tested. I hope it will help you choose a perfect theme.
      2. The version that you have installed won’t stop working. However, you will loose access to our support forum and future releases. After the first year you will be able to upgrade to the Lifetime version by paying the diffrence only.

  4. Hi,

We are a web development complany looking to add international functionality to on of our clients ecommerce site, from what I have read about the Multilingual CMS version of your WPML plugin it looks to be suitable. To be absolutely certain of this I would like to run a trial on my local development version, I can then check for functionality and any compatibility issues pre purchase and rolling it out.

Is there a time limited trial I can use to facilitate this pre-testing?

  5. Payment is not working. It asks for verification information, I enter and it tells me it can’t process (or something to that effect).

    I use this card daily.

    Please advise asap.

  6. Hiya

If I subscribe for the CMS package for the year, like the product and want to upgrade to lifetime membership, do I just need to pay the difference….presuming that I upgrade whilst the package is still live, ie within the year.

    Many Thanks
    Chris

  7. Hello.

I cannot register my key on WordPress and do not see an option to add a new thread under support. Please direct me to the proper department and explain how I should contact support next time.

  8. Hi, I’ve spent quite a long time looking for information on Hreflang tag, but I haven’t found the answers that are entirely relevant to my questions. So I would appreciate it if you could please answer them for me here.

I’m considering adopting WPML plugin (Multilingual CMS) for my ecommerce website. The only thing that’s holding me back now is with regards to WPML hreflang functionality. If I understand correctly, WPML allows me to add hreflang tags to pages whose contents are essentially the same but in different languages, providing that these pages are “on the same domain”. What about pages on “different domains”? I’m asking this because I’ll be managing many websites with very similar (English) content, hence very likely I’ll have to deal with duplicate content issue with the use of hreflang.

More specifically, supposed that I want to create hreflang tag for the following urls:

    domain.com/en-us
    domain.com/fr
    domain.com.au/en-au

There shouldn’t be a problem with the first two urls (right?), but what about the third url (with .com.au as ccTLD)? Does WPML allow me to add hreflang tag by having an alternate site being a url from a different domain (i.e. domain.com.au/en-au in this case)?

If there’s actually a way to do it, please show me how.

If not…well…I’ve found this wordpress plugin called Hreflang Manager (http://codecanyon.net/item/hreflang-manager/6543147). This plugin allows for adding hreflang in the manner that I mentioned above. But it doesn’t allow for automatically adding hreflang to multilingual pages like WPML. So, my question is:

Can Hreflang Manager work together with WPML? Are they compatible?

And lastly, is there any other (better) way of dealing with this issue that you might be able to recommend?

Thank you in advance for your help.

    Best regards,

    John

  9. hi,

I tried to buy WPML today but got an error (ERROR CODE:PE101) while check out. What shall I do? What this error code means?
    Thanks!

    • Looks like a momentary error in the payment processor’s system. Please try again. If the problem persists, tell us if you are buying via PayPal or 2checkout.

  10. My client has version 2.6 and it stopped working. It won’t let him save a menu in the foreign language. Here’s my question: do we need to repurchase the whole plugin all over again, or can we buy just an upgrade or the lifetime at a discounted rate? Please let me know, thanks!

    James

    • You can buy the upgrade to Lifetime, even if your account has expired. Log in to your account. You will see the upgrade button at the right-hand column. When you buy the upgrade, you only need to pay the difference between what you paid before and the Lifetime account cost.

      • I had set up language and select drop-down menu in Language switcher style, but on front-end, drop-down menu doesn’t work. In addition, when I switch to another language in Site language, my site is “page not found”. Please give me some advices.

Besides, I have another question about WPML Compatibility Test Tool. How can I get it? Is that a free plugin or premium plugin?

        Thanks

  11. hello, I am Leina Lee.
I would like to install the WPML plugin and I wonder this plugin can translate our board contents. I installed “Kboard plugin” at my site and I want to transplate this “Kboard’s contents”. Is it possible? or not? the WPML only limit to wordpress page contents?

    • Hi Leina,
no, WPML won’t translate your Kboard’s contents. WPML doesn’t translate your content automatically. It allows you to translate: posts, pages, menus, categories, widgets, images, even custom strings but you provide the translations.

  12. Hi, I have a question related to plugin translation, if I have created a plugin, how must I do to translate the elements of this plugin

  13. Hello,

I bought the WPML but I Forgot (didn’t find where) to fill my VAT number.

How can I get a new invoice with my VAT number?

    thank you very much!

  14. Hello

Is this plugin will hook up to one installation Wordpres several domains assigned to different language versions?

  15. Hi,

is there an option to upgrade from the CMS-version to the CMS-lifetime version? E.g. I’d like to test the CMS-version with all its features and – in case all works good – would like to upgrade to the lifetime version after trying.

Would be great to know, just in case 😉

    Cheers
    *T*

    • Hi Thilo,
yes, there is. You can start with the CMS-version and upgrade to Lifetime later. It will be possible 30 days before your current subscription expires. You will pay the difference. only

  16. Hi

    its pre sale question

I have a wordpress site, it will be single site with domain specific language translation ,site will be in 2-3 languages like
    for english – http://www.abc.com (default)
    for german – http://www.xyz.com
    for france – http://www.xyz.fr

    what we want is
    – when people in germany open our site they should see http://www.xyz.com and site would be in german language
    – when people from france open our site they should see http://www.xyz.fr and site would be in french language
    – when people from rest of the world open our site they should see http://www.abc.com and site would be in english format

does wpml solve above issue?, if yes which version we purchase? (im on tight budget), what are the server settings to solve above issue

I have already check this link https://wpml.org/faq/server-setting-for-languages-in-different-domains/
there you have used subdomain but I want to use different domain, is it possible??

    plz reply, thanks in advance

    • Hi Rahul,
yes, the procedure covered in the document you shared applies to setting up different domains as well and this is the way you can achieve this with WPML.

        • If your site (or sites – you can use one WPML license for all your sites you build for you or your customers) is more than a blog, you can start with the CMS version. Then, after the first year, you will be able to upgrade to Lifetime by paying the difference only.

  17. Hi!
I need renew a WPML and i want pay to upgrade to Lifetime, you can tell me how i can pay a difference only?

    Thank you.

  18. Hi

One of our clients would like to integrate this within the site that we’re building for them. If they buy it and sign up (easiest way to do it for them). How do we use it at our end on behalf of them? It’s just for their website but we’re building it.

    Thanks

  19. I have stumbled upon a very interesting problem. Our company wishes to have a wordpress blog setup something like this:

domain.com/blog -> blog in default language
domain.it/blog -> blog in italian language
domain.hr/blog -> blog in croatian language
    .. etc
I have used WPML in past and it served me great, but I have never used different domain per language before. Looking in to documentation and several blog posts I have come to conclusion that this might not be best tool for the job.

Has anyone ever done something similar? Is it possible using a combination of different plugins?

Using different domain per language requires us to change DNS settings of each domain (which is not a problem) but I do not know how could I change domain with subfolder. I don’t think htaccess redirect will do – am I wrong?

    Thank you for you help!

  20. Hi,

we are in the process of purchasing the lifetime package and our company requires that we enter the company information into a vendor form.
Can you let me know who i can send the form to?

    thanks
    mg

  21. Hi, we have interest for your WPML Multilingual CMS or Multilingual CMS Lifetime. What mean unlimited websites? That mean that we buy one WMPL and we can used on for example 10 pieces of web pages without extra payment?

    Thanks.
