  1. Hello, I have a client using Qtranslate and The Events Calendar. Tribe announced they are working on full support with WPML. I am considering migrating client site to use WPML instead. Does you provide a Qtranslate to WPML migration script/service?

  2. Hello, how many languages are support on one site? We are wanting to install 10 languages which equates to around 900 pages total once complete. Are there performance considerations we should be taking into account here also?

    Thank you

    • Hi Damion,

Hi Damion, using WPML you can set up as many languages as you want and adding new and new languages won’t affect your site performance. So, from the performance point of view, there is no significant difference if you have 3 languages or 7.

But please note that WPML doesn’t translate your contents automatically. You need to insert the translations yourself or you can send your contents to one of the professional translate services integrated with WPML (paid extra, depending on the number of words you need to translate).

  3. Hi all,
I was wondering if your plugin is compatible with Learndash.
I am testing other multilingual plugin, however I have issues to integrate LD.
The LD course outline doesn’t pop up when I switch a language from the widget in the header.
I’d like to know if your plugin works fine with it.

    Cheers

  4. Hi,
What meaning “Account renewal per year” ?
That after one year if i don’t make renew my plugin installed on my site in Wp no work more?
    Thanks

    • If you buy the CMS version and don’t renew it after the first year, your WPML won’t stop working but you will lose access to future releases and support help. After the first year, you can also renew to the Lifetime version and pay the difference in cost.

    • This is the WooCommerce Multilingual plugin for turning your online store to multilingual ones. And this one is free indeed and it is an extension for WPML. So you need to have WPML installed if you want to use this one.

    • Yes, you can. UPgradeing to Lifetime will be possible within 30 days before your Multilingual CMS expires. You will find a link in your WPML account to upgrade. You will pay the difference in cost.

  5. Hi,

we are a translation company that uses Memsource’s translation environment. We’d like to start using Memsource connector for WP so that we can translate WP websites directly in Memsource.

Just to make sure: if we purchase the WPML plug-in, will we be able to install it on multiple WP-websites (even if they have different domains)?

    • Hi Hinse,
in such a case, there is still a good chance that your theme will work with WPML. Please give it a try and test it yourself. Our refund policy allows you to test WPML for 30 days without any risk.

  6. Hi, some quick questions:

    1. Will using the plugin/theme/string translation have any affect on site performance (speed)?
    2. If I purchase one of the annual plans, can I upgrade later to the lifetime plan for the difference? Ex. buy the CMS version for $79 and then upgrade to lifetime for an additional $116. Would that have to be done within the first year?
    3. If this is only for a single website, I still need the CMS version if I want to be sure all elements of the page are translated right? Since the Blog version won’t translate widgets in the sidebar/footer, etc? Or will the blog version do that as well? I don’t need to translate anything in the admin interface, but want to ensure all elements of published posts/pages are translated (content, menus, sidebar widgets, footer widgets)
    4. Is there some way to translate hellobars (hellobar.com)?
    5. Is there some way to translate Bloom email opt-ins?
    6. Is there any issue using caching plugins like W3TC or WP Rocket?

    Thanks!

    • Hi,

      1. There will be some affect (additional db queries need to be done to access other language versions) but we do a lot to maintain the good level of performance, please see this blog post as an example.
      2. Yes, it works exactly as you expect. You will be able to upgrade to the Lifetime version within 30 days before your annual subscription expires. You will pay the difference only. You will see a link in your WPML account and you will get two email reminders.
      3. So you need to buy at least the CMS version. It includes the String Translation add-on that allows you to translate additional strings.
      4. There are some issues. Looks like there is a workaround, please see this forum thread.
      https://wpml.org/forums/topic/hello-bar-option/
      5. I’m afraid not, please see this forum thread
      https://wpml.org/forums/topic/bloom/
      6. Both work with WPML. Let me contact our developers to ask if there are any specific issues.

    • To answer your question about issues with W3TC or WP Rocket. Both are compatible with WPML. Right now we use the W3TC here on this site and it works ok. We are testing the WP Rocket, we had some issues but not related to WPML compatibility (for example with connecting to CDN).

  7. Hello,

I have set up a Multi-lingual Gravity Form that utilizes conditional logic to display pre-set English and Spanish fields for the user based off what language they choose to use at the beginning of the form. The issue is that all the buttons to go to previous and next pages are still in English even if the user chooses Spanish, which is to be expected. Which package should I look at purchasing if all I need the plugin to do is translate the button text and form notices based on the language the user selects from the first field?

Please let me know if you have any further questions. I want to make sure this plugin can accomplish what I need before purchasing.

    Thanks!

    • WPML works differently with GF than what you’re describing. You will be able to translate all the texts in forms. When you display a GF form in content, the form’s texts will display in that language. This also include messages displayed by the form.

In any case, if you buy WPML and you’re not 100% happy with it, you can tell us and we will refund your order.

    • Hi Allen,
WPML (along with the WooCommerce Multilingual plugin, you need both) allows you to insert the currency switcher but it doesn’t support geolocation. WPML has an option to redirect the user to his language version based on the language set in his/her browser. This option is disabled by default and can be enabled in WPML settings.

    • Thank you, this multilingual plugin you are talking about. Is free right? Or do I have to buy it separately? Or how should i go about that?

      Thanks

      • Yes, the WooCommerce Multilingual plugin is free. Everything else you need to make your online store multilingual is included in the CMS or in the Lifetime package.

  8. Hi there,

We want to create a multi-regional site for my clients website http://www.prop101.co.nz we are wanting to add an Australian version of the site. We want the website to look the same and function the same however some pages will have content that relates to the Australian industry rather than the New Zealand Industry. Both sites will be in English so its only some content that will differ. Will your plug-in work for this?

    • Hi Katie,
      yes, it will.
WPML allows you to add different versions of English, for example:

      en-AU English (Australia)
      en-CA English (Canada)
      en-GB English (United Kingdom)
      en-IE English (Ireland)
      en-NZ English (New Zealand)
      en-US English (United States)

Using WPML you can also translate only some of your posts/pages or you can use the “duplicate” option which allows you to use the same version of a post/page for both languages.

Using all these features makes it possible to build a website as you described.

  9. I have license at account and like to move further and add languages.
    1. License is not detected as support has old video material. Can be this fixed or I give you access to WP Multi installation.
    2. It is an issue as license input field is not there.
    3. Activation will not work as there is an error:
Fatal error: Specified key was too long; max key length is 1000 bytes in /home/f4g7cj1e/public_html/wp-content/plugins/sitepress-multilingual-cms/inc/sitepress-schema.php on line 366
Need help as I have to purchase upgrade.

    • HI Matjaz,
our records show that you don’t have any active subscription for WPML. The previous subscription expired in July 15, 2014 and was for a Multilingual CMS. You need to buy WPML again.

      • I understand that I did not purchase lifetime license but there quoted that any upgrade should be done manually if this is expired.

There are many posts on forum with the same issues like
Specified key was too long; max key length is 1000 bytes
It is not connected to license as this is expired and it should be done manually.

        • That’s right, to have lifetime access to automatic updates you need to have an active WPML subscription.
To avoid these errors, just unregister WPML on the user website. The version that had been installed will continue working (of course, if it’s still compatible with WP new releases).

          • Another issue is that I have seen it was created 250 tables due to this plugin? I had
How many tables is actually generated when I need just en-GB or 10 languages but not translation?
Will be created each table for particular domain and if there is 10 domains and 10 languages it means 10×10 tables = 100 tables to manage languages folders…
Is this true or mistake in configuration area?

            • Hi,
WPML creates 22 table for each site.
Most of these tables are quite small and only a subset of them gets updated when creating or translating posts or strings.

If you have a multisite installation (I’m not sure), these tables are created for each site, because each site is handled independently. If you actually gets tables created for each language and you don’t use a multisite setup, please contact our support.

              • I have WP Multi site installation. What is the best to use if I like just to create language folders like en-GB, de-DE and do not need any translation feature.
should we purchase a multisite setup foe this and 22 tables will be created for each domain?

                • Hi, yes, in a WP Multisite you will have 22 tables created for each subsite. I don’t know what you mean by “purchase a multisite setup for this”. You need to purchase only one WPML subscription and you can use it for unlimited number of sites.

    • Hi David,
we are the only seller and legal owner of WPML and the only source to buy the WPML subscription is to use this site. WPML is
Thank you for the link. What they do, is illegal. In addition, buying the WPML subscription here, you get access to our support help, future releases and you can register WPML on your (or your customer’s site) to get access to automatic updates.

  10. Hi, I have a client who would like to translate her site into French.

She is using Visual Composer and Revolution Slider. She doesn’t need the backend/admin terms to be translated but just the frontend content in pages and posts that are using both plugins.

Her site is very simple so I’d like to recommend her to purchase the Multilingual Blog ($29) for her wordpress site. I have a few questions before I recommend you

    1. Is WPML compatible with Visual Composer and Revolution Slider?

    2. If it is compatible, will the Multilingual Blog ($29) version still works with both plugin?

    Thank you

  11. Salve,

    Grazie anticipatament

    • Hello,
yes, you can. And you will pay the difference only. It will be possible within 30 days before you “Multilingual CMS” subscription expires. You will get two email reminders and you will find a link in your WPML account.

    • Hi again,
you can upgrade from “Multilingual CMS” to the “Multilingual CMS Lifetime” anytime. The 30-day period applies only to renewals.

    • Hi Alfred,
let me explain how our licensing system works. What you buy when purchasing WPML is a WPML subscription and a WPML account is created for you. If your subscription is active you have access to all WPML plugins available for that subscription (the CMS/Lifetime package includes all the WPML plugins). You can download them and install on any WordPress site you want (including sites of your customers).

You can even register them so everybody can make upgrades directly from their sites, without access to your WPML account.

So actually there is no need to transfer the license. Only the WPML account’s owner can ask questions on our support forum so it is best if that person has required technical skills. If you want your customer to use WPML for unlimited time and have access to future releases from their websites, you will need the Lifetime license.

  12. Hello
I bought the plugins “Multilingual CMS Lifetime” and place the e-mail I was wrong so I have not RECEIVED my login. Please can you help me with this issue.

    regards

  13. Hello,

I was wondering if my website (https://www.newhairlinestudio.ch/) is compatible with WPML plugin. I am asking this questions as my main home page and different templates are coded in php and I think I will need help to change the translated text of these templates with your support help…

Do you provide coding support to make any website comaptible with your WPML plugin? Do I have to pay more than the price advertised to get this support?

Can we choose the translation switching button on a website, desktop or mobile version? Do you provide CSS support?

    Best regards,

    Gerardo

    thank you for your answer.

    • Hi Gerardo,
if your website uses your custom template with hardcoded strings that are wrapped in the Gettext calls, WPML will detect these strings for translation.

By looking at the front-end only I cannot say what other issues you might have with translating this website. It depends on how this template was implemented in PHP.

Yes, you can ask our WPML certified contractors to do some custom work for you. Please check this list: https://wpml.org/documentation/support/wpml-contractors/

      • Hello and thank you for your rapid answer.

Can you view the source of my main home page (https://www.newhairlinestudio.ch/) and tell me if I will have problems with wpml? It’s very easy to understand this php code…

In the case I need some custom help, is it free?

If I get the multilingual CMS (79 USD), can I pay the remainder during the year to get the lifetime product (I prefer to spend first 79 USD in case this plugin does not work for me)?

        Thank you for the answer!

        Gerardo

        • Hi Gerardo,
to see the PHP code that was used I would need to access the source files of your theme, which mean have access to your server. I could only preview the HTML source of your website and I can see that your website is based on the Twenty Fifteen theme. This theme in its original form is a basic theme so you shouldn’t have any issues to translate everything using WPML. But I don’t know what changes have been done in your PHP files. By looking at the front-end I suppose there are easy to handle.

Yes, you can upgrade to Lifetime later and you will pay the difference only.
Please note that it it turns out that the product doesn’t work for you (I do hope it will, it works well for about 500 000 other websites), you can ask for return. We will refund your order but you have only 30 days to ask for it. Please check this link.

          • Hello,

I also wanted to know something else. When switching to an other language, some pictures must switch also. Is this possible with wpml?

Best regards and do not hesitate to send me a mail to see the code on my website…

            Cheers.

            • Hi Gerardo, yes, WPML can handle translating pictures as well but if the pictures are hardcoded in your theme PHP files this is a challenge (still doable).

              • They are hardcoded…

I already tried wpml plugin (I found it on the Internet) and nothing works (nothing at all)!

I would like to have a quick chat with you (Skype?) and to give you my ftp access to make sure that it is possible on my website?

                Best regards,

                Gerardo

  14. Hello, I’m using the theme that is called fit WP. I want to have multilingual language for my website that include Traditional Chinese, English and Japanese. Do I need to purchase any package from your plugin about WPML. Can you give me some suggestion?

    • Hi Jan,
WPML supports Traditional Chinese, English and Japanese (but it doesn’t translate automatically) but this theme wasn’t tested by our Compatibility Team. Even if a theme wasn’t tested by our theme you should be able to translate basic elements such as posts, pages, categories, menus. You might have issues with your theme custom options but not necessarily. Best would be to check by yourself. Our refund policy allows you to test WPML for 30 days without any risk. Why don’t you give it a try?

  15. Hallo madam/Sir,
I hope that someone will help me to install my theme properly “http://demo.designinvento.net/classiads3/” with Zoco-Layout For this 3 languages NL, AR & EN
I am aware that I have to pay the installation and the multi languages plugin.
    thank you for your help
