Hello,
I would like to learn what you mean exactly by unlimited sites. A client of mine wants to build a multisite WordPress website which will provide website solutions for German translation freelancers. There might be dozens or hundreds of blogs in this one multisite installation by time. Can one license of Multilingual CMS be used in all of these created blogs.
one more question, I have a lot of text in text widgets, when using qtranslate I can translate this too, is this also possible with WPML? do you have an url where I can see how this is done?
WPML handles widget translation just fine. You can translate their titles using the String Localization module. Text widgets are fully translatable and other widgets depend on their types.
i’ve joined the Multilingual Blog member last year and i will renew it next month. If i upgrade to Multilingual CMS this month, do i need to renew again next month? if not, when will be my next time to renew Multilingual CMS membership?
The renewal date will be calculated according to your original purchase. If you upgrade to Multilingual CMS now, next month, the system will offer you to renew Multilingual CMS for $39. This renewal will be valid for 1 year from the end of the original purchase.
I’m using your free version of wpml (WPML 2.0.4.1) with Karma 2.0.3 by TrueThemes template and was working pretty well, but after the update of WordPress to 3.3.1 had some problems.
1. On the page Post > Categories, the list of categories don’t show up
2. On the page Pages, the list of pages don’t show up either
3. On the same page of Pages, without WPML. The list of pages is right on there
I know that you have the new Multilingual CMS version and I’d like to know before to buy it if this troubleshooting is normal with the WPML 2.0.4.1 and for the new one is fixed.
WPML 2.0.4.1 is not supposed to work with WordPress 3.3. The issues that you’re describing are pretty typical to this combination. Current WPML version runs fine on WordPress 3.0 and above.
No. WPML doesn’t automatically change the CSS for your site’s front-page. You will need to edit the theme and do it yourself. Here is description of what we did for our own site when we added Hebrew: http://wpml.org/2011/12/adding-rtl-support-for-theme/
Hi,
I would like to create a site multi-languajes. I just watched the demo and I would like to know if it is possible to add more languages after de initial set-up? (beacuse I’m working on a few new languages, but it’s not already finished)
And also, it is possible the language Chinese? and/or Greek?
Yes. You can add and remove languages at any time. You can certainly use Greek and Chinese. WPML itself is also fully localized to these languages, so all the admin screens are available with full translation.
I am building a small site to promote our business and want it to be available in many languages. What are the additional costs associated with the translation services.
WPML doesn’t translate for you. It’s a tool that lets you maintain content in several languages. We also offer translation services via ICanLocalize. The cost for that is around 0.07 USD / word (per language).
We’ve tested WPML with Pagelines themes and everything appeared to be fine. I can’t say that I went through each and every option in the theme, but the basics worked smooth.
I am working on a simple website for our hotel which needs to have just one language option – English or Spanish. Which version should I be opting for in terms of the simplicity that I’m looking for? Thanks
If it’s a website for a hotel, you’re probably using more than just the basic blog features in WordPress and you’ll find complete support for it in our ‘Multilingual CMS’ version.
I am using the Photo Nexus theme (themeforest) for a new website with multilanguage uses.
The homepage does not have a sidebar, so I would like to have a startpage before the homepage with a choice between the languages. Is this possible?
I guess that you can create yet another page with this. If you’re talking about a splash page that automatically displays with language selection – this is something that you’ll need to code manually.
Ok, thanks. That would be better indeed. The footer is very small so it might cause some issues, but I’ll give it a try. Is there a possibility for a little help when I cannot get it to display well in the footer?
1. WPML works fine will all these plugins, with the exception of AIOSEOP. I recommend that you try ‘WordPress SEO’, which is far better and also works great with WPML:
wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-seo/
2. Yes. You can edit image tags and have them translated.
Hello. I am currently using wordpress 3.0.4, WPML 2.0.4.1 and a custom thematic based theme. Everything works great.
Now, I am upgrading to WP 3.3.1 and all keeps working correctly except the home page where for some reason WPML causes the page to be rendered with the wrong content/template. Now I know you are saying that WPML 2.0.4.1 is not compatible with WP 3.3.1 but how can I be sure that purchasing the latest version of WPML addresses the issue. I see your previous comments saying that an older version of WPML may well be the underlying cause of incorrect page rendering but how likely is this really? Is there a money back guarantee if things do not work to plan?
I do think that the problem is the old WPML version because the only thing different before and after the upgrade is the WordPress build.
I’m not sure what the problem is with your current site.
Since WPML 2.0.4.1, there have been hundreds of improvements and fixes to WPML. If you get WPML and still have problems, our support folks will do all they can do help you. And, if you’re not satisfied, you can always get your money back.
Hello,
I have a WordPress website created by wordpress mu, it has many of sub-sites, which sub-sites has its own domain name(useing WordPress MU Domain Mapping plugin), Can one license of Multilingual Blog be used in all of these sub-sites?
We’re working with Genesis on some projects (with WPML) and we’re happy with it. We haven’t tested all the features of Genesis and I can’t tell for sure if there aren’t any issues, but it’s working OK for us.
Genesis has a real-estate child theme, which we haven’t tried.
Is it possible to integrate WPML into the creating of a pre-meny homepage, where the visitor can but choose a language before entering the actual site?
I’d like to know if the plugin will support WPMU, if I can still use my own translations, and if yes to both of those, what the process would look like to set this up. My setup would be on sub-domains (one for each country).

Yes. You can install WPML as a network plugin and each child blog will configure it for itself.
Is wpml compatible with WP E-store (from tipsandtricks-hq.com) ? do you have clients running with it?
thanks,
Jan
I’m not familiar with WP E-Store, but I would imagine that there are compatibility problems.
one more question, I have a lot of text in text widgets, when using qtranslate I can translate this too, is this also possible with WPML? do you have an url where I can see how this is done?

Hello,
How WPML handles SEO plugins? Is there compatibility with WordPress SEO by Yoast?
Thanks
Teresa
WPML and WordPress SEO (by Yoast) work very well together.

Hi,
I saw that there are 2 version, cms and blog. if I use CMS since I am developing a website for my client, will they know that I am using WPML?
Thanks
The name WPML will appear in several places. Is there an issue that your client might have with seeing names of plugins?
they might opt out with our service and get it done on their own
With RTL site like arabic and Hebrew, will this plugin automatically make the site RTL when viewed in arabic?
No. WPML doesn’t automatically change the CSS for your site’s front-page. You will need to edit the theme and do it yourself. Here is description of what we did for our own site when we added Hebrew:
http://wpml.org/2011/12/adding-rtl-support-for-theme/
is russian language supported ? with all the right mo.files ? everything works like date, day, month ?
Yes. You can use WPML for Russian sites. To translate the standard WordPress strings, make sure to include the Russian .mo file in your site’s ‘languages’ directory. See this page for instructions:
http://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/theme-localization/
I am building a multilingual website which includes a blog. Do I have to purchase both plugins?
You don’t. The CMS version includes all the functionality of the blog version.

If I get right answer i will buy your plugin.
Question is:
Can I add my own translation (not authomatic) for every page?
We have hostel and we like to be serious and to have correct translation of languages on our site.
Tnx for answer in advance.
Danko Matasic
p.s.
is this plugin work with Pagelines themes?
Yes. WPML is intended for you to add your own translation. It’s not designed for automated translation.
Have a look here for the different ways you can translate:
http://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/
We’ve tested WPML with Pagelines themes and everything appeared to be fine. I can’t say that I went through each and every option in the theme, but the basics worked smooth.
Hello;
does WPML works with ACF ?
Regard
Marion R.
WPML works correctly with ACF, but it works even better with Types:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/types/
Any issues with MagicFields?
all best.
WPML works OK with Magic Fields, but would work much better with Types:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/types/stats/

It might be easier, and much more SEO friendly, to add the language switching to the home page instead of going through a different page before that. You can create a custom language switcher and insert it to your site using PHP.
http://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/custom-language-switcher/
Ok, thanks. That would be better indeed. The footer is very small so it might cause some issues, but I’ll give it a try. Is there a possibility for a little help when I cannot get it to display well in the footer?
Before I can use WPML do I have to wrap content in the GetText echo calls by my self, or WPML does it for me?
Content inside WordPress posts and pages don’t need any work. You only need to wrap texts in the PHP in gettext calls.
A few questions – Wondering if it’s compatible with these plugins: NextGEN Gallery, TinyMCE Advanced, AllinOneSeo, WP Super Cache.
Also is it possible to edit image tags on the translated pages as usual ? (img alt tags etc.)
And do wordpress shortcodes still usually work with WPML?
3. Yes, WordPress shortcodes will work normally.

Hello,

Yes. You can use WPML on the main site and on any of the child sites. You can also perform network activation or per-site activation. Please have a look at this tutorial for WPML with Domain Mapping:
http://wpml.org/documentation/essential-multilingual-plugins/multilingual-site-network-with-domain-mapping/
Thanks.
Is WPML compatible with the Cart66 plugin for e-commerce?
Probably not. The cart66 people have it on their todo list for sometime this year, but I don’t have an exact date from them.
In the meanwhile, I suggest looking into WooCOmmerce, which runs smooth with WPML.
Can you tell me if there is a real estate (estate agent) theme that WPML is compatible with?
We’re working with Genesis on some projects (with WPML) and we’re happy with it. We haven’t tested all the features of Genesis and I can’t tell for sure if there aren’t any issues, but it’s working OK for us.
Genesis has a real-estate child theme, which we haven’t tried.
Hi!
Is it possible to integrate WPML into the creating of a pre-meny homepage, where the visitor can but choose a language before entering the actual site?
I am not sure how this will work. You can create a new page that will include just links to other languages.
I’d like to know if the plugin will support WPMU, if I can still use my own translations, and if yes to both of those, what the process would look like to set this up. My setup would be on sub-domains (one for each country).
WPML runs file on multisite networks, including with Domain Mapping. You should have a look at this tutorial:
http://wpml.org/documentation/essential-multilingual-plugins/multilingual-site-network-with-domain-mapping/
Then, also look here for different options to translate your content:
