We haven’t checked WPML with that plugin before. If the other author is interested, we would be very happy to review the compatibility together. Would you like to ask them and let me know?
Sorry, but we don’t have a trial version for WPML. We do have a 30-days refund policy. If you buy WPML and are not happy for whatever reason, you can have your money back.
Hi, does your plugin support TrueTheme – Karma? Our site is built with Karma. If your plugin does not support, what will it happen if I install the plugin? Please kindly advise. Thanks.
I don’t see a mention of the WPML on Karma page and I don’t think that we’ve tested it with the theme author. This is a very popular theme and we’ll be happy to review how our plugin and the theme work together. If you’re a client of Karma, would you like to see if the theme author is interested in verifying compatibility with us?
These are the languages that come pre-configured with WPML:
Chinese (Simplified) Chinese (Traditional) Danish Dutch English French German Italian Japanese Russian Spanish Albanian Arabic Armenian Basque Bosnian Bulgarian Catalan Croatian Czech Esperanto Estonian Finnish Greek Hebrew Hindi Hungarian Icelandic Indonesian Irish Korean Kurdish Latin Latvian Lithuanian Macedonian Maltese Moldavian Mongolian Nepali Norwegian Bokmål Persian Polish Portuguese (Brazil) Portuguese (Portugal) Punjabi Quechua Romanian Serbian Slavic Slovenian Somali Swedish Tamil Thai Turkish Ukrainian Urdu Uzbek Vietnamese
If you need a different language, you can always add it yourself using WPML’s GUI.
Yes. You can set the WordPress admin language to any language you are using on the site’s front pages. You can also set a different admin language for different users in your site.
If it’s not in our compatibility list, it means that we haven’t tested WPML and the theme together. We are very happy to work with theme authors on compatibility. As their client/user, would you like to check if the theme author can spend a few hours with us on this? If so, they should go to our Go Global program: http://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/go-global-program/
We don’t approve on what sites you will use WPML. As a web developer, you can use it on any site that you are building.
We’ve tested WPML with preview Thesis versions and it worked fine. It should also work on Thesis 2.0, but Thesis developer is not available to check this compatibility with us, so we’re a little stuck on it.
In case anything doesn’t work easily, our support folks will do their best to help you. And, if there is any problem, you can always get your money back.
I want to start with the Blog version of WPML but I’m not sure if it will be enough in the future. Is there an option to update to the CMS version or would I need to buy the CMS package separately?
I’m thinking of buying this plug in. I am offering an English and French tutoring site. I want both English and French versions of the site (I want to provide the translation). Does your plug in allow visitors to switch between the two versions and can I provide the translation?
Certainly, what you’re looking to do is exactly what WPML is built for. You will have translation controls, which allow you to create and edit translations from the WP backend and visitors will see a language switcher in the public pages of the site.
ET added WPML support just 2 weeks ago, so you should probably use the very latest versions of the themes to be compatible with WPML. A lot of development work went into this process. I doubt that you can get everything working with a few small changes to older versions of the theme.
Hi,
Is there any easy way to use the flags(with text) side by side instead of drop down menu as switchers? I checked your custom switcher post and it looks intimidating… Is drop down your only option? I believe you’ve received many non-drop down switcher requests…
Thanks,
Dao
The footer language switcher should display exactly like you are asking. WPML can add it automatically to your site’s footer.
Alternatively, you can use WPML’s language switcher and configure it with CSS. You can select the language switcher to be a list, instead of drop-down Then, style it with CSS to show horizontally.
Would this plugin auto detect the geo-location of the visitor and show the content in that language if available? I will have content on the site in English, Spanish, French and Chinese and would like the relevant language to appear straightaway for the visitors from these language speaking countries. Is that possible with this plugin?
Yes, WPML can send visitors to content with the language set by their browser. This doesn’t use IP detection, but the browser language preference. We found that the browser language setting is a lot more reliable in determining what language visitors want to receive content in.
I am looking to build a bilingual wordpress website based on the RT-Theme 9 and I am considering buying your plugin in order to translate the whole site. I have a couple of questions:
-Is your plugin compatible with the RT9 theme?
-Would I be able to use english and arabic as the two languages since one is RTL and the other LTR?
Hi, I develop websites for many clients. Some of them request multilanguage website. I know that WPML requires subscription key to enable support and download addons. I am wondering that if I entered the key, will the clients be able to reuse or steal my key? Thank you!
If your clients are very technical people and can hack this information from the database, they might be able to install WPML on other sites and get this automatic update. The information is not displayed on the screen and requires a lot of effort to extract manually from the DB.
Hi, Can you clarify precisely what CMS navigation drop-down menus are and how this differs from WP menus. Doesn’t the blog edition include the translation of WP menus including submenus? Thanks!!
WPML’s drop-down CMS navigation was created way before WordPress came out with its menu system. If you’re building a new site, you should use the WordPress menu system. Our CMS navigation does still include a very useful feature, being the sidebar navigation. This is truly unique and allows you to easily add relevant navigation for close content. You can see it in action in our own site. Click on any page besides the homepage and you’ll see the related pages with their internal hierarchy.
I would like to test WPML on a test site (a private subdomain) with our translator, before implementing it on our public site. Will there be any licensing problem with installing it in these two places?
Hi,
To be 100% sure (because I can’t belive my eyes 😉 ).
I’m going to buy Multilingual CMS. It says: “Unlimited sites – you can install and use WPML on any number of sites.” Does it mean, that I can install this plugin on my current client site, on my 4 blogs, and on sites all my future clients? And all this for just 79$?
Yup. WPML is a tool for website developers. We understand that you need to run several sites for yourself and clients. When you buy WPML, you can use it on all your sites.
I would like the ability to add additional product description fields to a product; one for each additional language of my choosing.
I would like the ability to add additional sales prices to a product; one for each currency I choose to accept in my store.
I would like my customers to be able to choose any combination of the above (language and currency) on the store front and they should be able to save the choice in their account page settings.
The reason is I would like to sell my stuff worldwide in local currency and in the local language. I do not want to use a currency converter, because it makes “ugly” sales prices.
You have made a great translation plugin which allows to manually add sales prices in local currency.
The flip side to this is a language is associated to a currency, thus I need at least two “english languages”; one for dollars and one for British Pound etc.
Your system generates one product page per language. In my case that amounts to 14 pages per product. That is a lot of pages to maintain.
Any chance you would consider this idea to be included in your WPML cms plugin?
Can it be achieved using the Toolset in combination with WPML?
With every purchase you also receive support and upgrades for a year. Before year elapses, you can extend the support and upgrades for 50% of the original price.
What if I do not extend support at end of 1 year … ?
Will my WMPL control will stop working … ?
My clients will not be able to see multilingual contents … ?
If you don’t renew your account, you will not be able to download new versions from us or get support. Nothing in your sites will stop working. Your sites will remain unchanged in both the WordPress admin or frontend pages.
If you don’t renew your account, you will not get new versions. You can renew your account later, at any time, but will need to pay the full amount again and not the reduced 50% amount.
Thanks a lot for quick and positive response. I really appreciate it.
What I understand is that the WPML gives us perpetual license for the software, but to get updates and support, we need subscription. Which means, if I do not renew after period of one year, I can still develop new Multilingual WordPress website with same account/password, but only I cannot get latest version of WPML and support. (Please correct me if I am wrong)
If I wish to renew after 1 year period is lapsed then it is same like new purchase because it will be on 100% of price with no 50% discount.
I made a purchase but I never received my account, I tried the recover password function as one of your pages says but it did not work. Please contact me by email to let me know what else I can do. I made the purchase on last wednesday.
I’ve forwarded this to our accounting. If you don’t hear anything back, better to use our contact form, where we can reply privately: http://wpml.org/home/contact-us/
You need to have WPML, WooCommerce and WooCommerce Multilingual all enabled on your site. WooCommerce Multilingual cannot run by itself. Is this what you are doing?
Does your multi-language plugin works with the BUSINESS DIRECTORY plugin? I need to register records in 4 differente languages
We haven’t checked WPML with that plugin before. If the other author is interested, we would be very happy to review the compatibility together. Would you like to ask them and let me know?
Hi there,
We want to use WPML plugin in our site. Before buying i want to try this plugin. is there a trial verison?
emu
Sorry, but we don’t have a trial version for WPML. We do have a 30-days refund policy. If you buy WPML and are not happy for whatever reason, you can have your money back.
Does this help?
Hi Amir,
Thanks I use WPML and it fits for our application. I just have one more question:
1) Does WPML support Tetun Language?
2) Can we add new language? If yes is there process for that?
Thanks in advance.

Hello,
I couldn’t find an answer on your website – do you have a list of all included languages? You say there is over 40 of them but which ones?
Thank you.
David
These are the languages that come pre-configured with WPML:
Chinese (Simplified) Chinese (Traditional) Danish Dutch English French German Italian Japanese Russian Spanish Albanian Arabic Armenian Basque Bosnian Bulgarian Catalan Croatian Czech Esperanto Estonian Finnish Greek Hebrew Hindi Hungarian Icelandic Indonesian Irish Korean Kurdish Latin Latvian Lithuanian Macedonian Maltese Moldavian Mongolian Nepali Norwegian Bokmål Persian Polish Portuguese (Brazil) Portuguese (Portugal) Punjabi Quechua Romanian Serbian Slavic Slovenian Somali Swedish Tamil Thai Turkish Ukrainian Urdu Uzbek Vietnamese

Thank you very much, very helpful!
David
Does the pre-configured languages cover both front and back-end?
Yes. You can set the WordPress admin language to any language you are using on the site’s front pages. You can also set a different admin language for different users in your site.
Is WPML compatible with Nevada theme? It is not on the Theme Compatibility list.

Can WPml support Armenian language?
Yes. Armenian is already setup in WPML’s default languages list.
Hi,
Can you please tell me if the plugin is compatible with WPZoom Yamidoo Pro theme?
Thanks

Hello, I wanting to buy WPML, and one thing I don’t understand.
On this post
http://wpml.org/2011/05/new-plugin-wpml-media-translation/
It says the media WPML is available for both versions of WPML.
But on the home page, manage attachments in different languages, only appears on the CMS version. Is this the same feature or a different one?
If its the same, will or will it not work on both versions of WPML?
Thank you.
Sorry for the confusion. The Media Translation module is part of the full CMS package.
hi guys,
i just want to be sure about the following :
can we use wpml for adults websites containing explicit content ?
is wpml compatible with thesis 2.0 ?

Yes. You can always upgrade to the full CMS version and pay only the difference ($50).

We have not tested against this theme yet.

RT-Theme 16 is compatible with WPML (http://wpml.org/theme/rt-theme-16/) so most chances are that RT-Theme 9 is too.
To your other question: yes.

Hello,
I bought wpml but it does not work anymore. Today Ifound from backend text like this:
WooCommerce Multilingual is enabled but not effective. It requires WPML in order to work.
…….

You need to have WPML, WooCommerce and WooCommerce Multilingual all enabled on your site. WooCommerce Multilingual cannot run by itself. Is this what you are doing?
Hi, I’m wondering if this plugin works with shopping carts. Thanks!
WPML works well with Jigoshop, MarketPress and WooCommerce. We have glue plugins for all three, making everything work together.
