Hi!

I started writing a new Post (in Danish). At some point I discovered that WP thought it was supposed to be in English, so I changed the language to Danish (in the pulldown menu).

I think it was after that(?), that I set the post to belong to 2 categories. But later I discovered that it did not show up in those categories (in Danish), so I set the categories again... But now it's "double-registrated" in each category, because WP/WPML mistakenly regards the translation of a category as another(!) category...

So on the attached screenshot from the Dashboard you can see that it now belongs to 4 categories...

How on Earth did this happen? And how do I correct it? And how do I prevent this error from occurring again in the future?

Hi,

Thank you for contacting WPML support!

Can you try the following:
- WPML - > Support -> Troubleshooting:
– Synchronize posts taxonomies (for posts only)
-- Clear the cache in WPML
-- Remove ghost entries from the translation tables
-- Set language information
-- Fix terms count
-- Fix post type assignment for translations

If that doesn't work, are you able to fix this post using Quick Edit or editing the post directly in WordPress? Do you see these categories there?

It's sad that WordPress with plugins like WPML creates so many errors.
It's not the first time I have had to do these "manual auto-corrections" in the short period I have used WP and WPML.
It's somewhat like MS-DOS and FAT32... 😉
