[Resolved] Apply WPML Elementor Template for WooCommerce Products Custom Taxonomy
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem:
I am trying to show an Elementor Template on secondary language custom product taxonomies like it works for native product categories and tags. While the English version displays correctly, the Spanish version doesn't. I have followed the documentation on WPML and ensured settings are as recommended. A video link is provided to demonstrate the issue.
Tell us what you are trying to do?
Show an Elementor Template on a secondary languages custom product taxonomies like they do for native product categories and tags.
I just wanted to confirm for you that in WPML > Settings > Taxonomies Translation that the Custom Taxonomies are indeed set as "Translatable only show translated items", and also that the WPML > Settings > Custom posts slug translation options has the checkbox checked. To my knowledge everything is set as it should be per the documentation (which I think you'll see when you login).
Thank you so much for your assistance! Happy to send login details when we can make the post private, etc. Thank you!
I know the errata is talking about the default taxonomy but it might be the fact that it will have the problem for custom taxonomies too, so I suggest that you try the workaround mentioned there.
If the problem continues, please check if the issue is happening on a minimal installation:
- IMPORTANT STEP! Create a backup of your website. Or better approach will be to test this on a copy/staging version of the website to avoid any disruption of a live website.
- Switch to the default theme such as "TwentyTwenty" by going to "WordPress Dashboard > Appearance > themes".
- Go to "WordPress Dashboard > Plugins" and deactivate all plugins except Elementor, Elementor Pro, WPML and WPML add-ons.
- Check if you can still recreate the issue.
- If not, re-activate your plugins one by one and check the issue each time to find out the plugin that causes the problem.
This solution worked perfectly and is a perfect workaround for now/moving forward, Christopher - thank you!
QUESTION: With known issues like this, is it common for the WPML team to work through them little by little over time, or do some of them never get tended to and we just rely on the snippet in the meantime?
I am asking so I can make a mental note that at some point in the future I may be able to delete/remove this snippet.
