Background of the issue:
I have a WooCommerce site that I automatically translated with Deepl. I want all my product translations to be automatically updated as soon as a change is made in the original language. I have a third-party application that updates my products (inventory and various product information). My site is set to 'Translate all' and 'Publish without revision.'

Symptoms:
As soon as a product is updated, it goes into the queue with the 'Waiting for translator' status instead of updating automatically.

Questions:
Why are my product translations not updating automatically after changes in the original language?
How can I ensure that product updates are automatically translated without going into the 'Waiting for translator' queue?

Additional Information:
When I try to update the translation of one of the queued products by clicking the gear icon in the product page, I get an error saying "WPML failed to translate this page."

Hi there,

Please go to WPML->Settings-> What would you like to do after WPML finishes translating your content automatically?

set to "Publish without review "

Translation Editor -> set it to Advanced Translation Editor.

(From your screenshots it looks set up OK)

Next step is to confirm that the site has 'pay as you go enabled' and that there are enough credits.

Go to WPML->Translation Management->Tools and verify that pay as you go is activated and there are no errors there.

Sometimes a pause to the translation can happen if you hit a limit and an invoice is waiting to be cleared.

Let me know your results!

Hi,
All these settings are already set, and when I edit content myself, it's automatically translated. However, for products that are still awaiting translation, when I try to click "Edit translation" on the front-end page, I'm redirected to the same page with the following URL:
/?lang=pt-pt&referer=ate&ateJobCreationError=101&jobId=17245
What does this ateJobCreationError=101 error mean? I think this is what's preventing WPML from creating translations. Is there a way to get detailed logs of what might be preventing the creation of product translations?

Thank you for the screenshots!

For this page and job ID hidden link

I located the translation into PT but I see that it was finished in 2024 which confirms what you are describing if new changes were done to this page lately.

Please go to WPML->Support->ATE Error logs and share with me the top 5 errors logged there.

In the backend from our side I am not seeing something that stands out at the moment, these logs should help.

Hi,

Thanks for your response, here are the last 5 logs in the ATE errors logs, all others logs have the same event "XLIFF Server Communication", the same description "The uploaded xliff file doesn't belong to this system." and the same WPML Job ID and ATE Job ID. The last log I see is from 2025/03/13 1:34:57 PM :

I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to test the issue.
(preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated if possible)

**Before we proceed It is necessary to take FULL BACKUP of your database and your website. Providing us with access, you agree that a backup has been taken **

I often use the Duplicator plugin for this purpose: http://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/
You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply.
The information you enter is private which means only you and I have access to it.

NOTE: If access to the live site is not possible and the staging site does not exist please provide me with a duplicator package created with the duplicator plugin.

Thank you,
Bobby

Thank you for the access details!

This specific issue is most likely related to your ATE account with WPML and it's communication with your site.

Is it possible to provide me access to the live site? I will not be making any changes, just need to review the behavior after sending the page to translation and the errors logged.

The current staging site looks configured well but the AMS account is not the same and the set of errors are separate.

Thank you for the access details!

Please try to translate a product and let me know your results now.

Also, share with me the product you are testing with so I can also test it.

Hi,

I just send this product for translation :
hidden link

But my problem isn't really the translation of the products when I send them manually, but the fact that they aren't translated automatically. I have to go to the admin each time to launch the translations, even though I want everything to run automatically.

Thanks,

Thank you, I ran a test on this product and the automatic translation worked as expected.

Added a new word to the description -> updated the FR product
All translations were updated automatically

Hi,
Thank you for your reply, but this does not solve my problem, I have several hundred products that do not translate, as can be seen in the attached screenshot.

I don't understand why all these products translations aren't automatically update.

I can see that 147 translations remaining in the queue... as of right now

Also, If I review the product I can see that they are tranlating as expected.

There are however a good amount of products in the "translation needs update" status, my theory is that these were stuck in this state before the automatic translation was activated.

Please try submitting them via Translation Management by bulk for translation.

You can filter and then bulk select them either (bottom of the page you can increase from 25 to more items, I suggest staying under 100 to prevent server load)

However, I can't reproduce this behavior with a new page, if I make changes the changes get applied automatically

Hello,
We just spoke with Agnes Bury during a Zoom meeting "Let's Talk: Using WPML for Large Websites" about the issue we're experiencing. She confirmed that there was a real problem with the behavior I noted in the message above from March 12, 2025 at 3:25 pm.
For example, for this translation: hidden link
When I click on "Edit translation" in the admin bar, I'm redirected to the native language with the parameters ?lang=en&referer=ate&ateJobCreationError=101&jobId=15631 in the URL. I think the WPML job creation issue is related to the issue of products getting stuck in the "waiting for translator" state.

Thank you for updating me! I have been in communication with Agnes after your discussion and she filled me in.

The issue is escalated to our team and we are taking a closer look to make sure it resolves.

I also verified the issue using the page you provided above and was able to resolve it by manually doing the following.

1. small edit to the product and update
2. translations started working OK and the issue did not happen again

Of course we are reviewing this and will provide additional information once I have more feedback.
