Tell us what you are trying to do?
I am translating posts. In the original post featured image element is disabled, but in all translations, it is shown. The Custom Fields Translation "_generate_disable_featured_image" in settings is set to Copy. What else should I do/check/fix to make it work?

Hello,

Welcome to the WPML support forum. I will do my best to help you to resolve the issue.

Normally the media items will not be shown in a secondary language, if we disable the following *Media attachments* options of the Language widget(on the right side of the edit screen) of an original language post.

- Duplicate uploaded media to translations
- Duplicate featured image to translations

So please create a test post and disable these options. Then translate it to a secondary language and make sure you are getting the expected results or not.

If the problem remains, please share a couple of screenshots or screencast for a better understanding of the issue.

Pls find attached screenshots of my post settings, all are set to the correct values, but the featured image is still showing in all secondary language translations.
Maybe it has something to do with Media Translation Settings (also see attachment). I tried changing them, but they won't change after I press Apply and refresh the page they are the same (as on the screenshot).

Hello,

Thank you for the updates. I can log in to the site now. But sorry, I am not able to reproduce the issue exactly.

For example please check the following original language post and its translations. The original language post doesn't have a featured image. And the translations are showing the correct setting for the *Disable Elements* settings. Refer to the attached image.

So which image you are trying to hide for this post in the frontend? Please let me know the exact steps to reproduce the issue on your site. It will be great if you can share a screencast for a better understanding.

Pls take a look at this review hidden link, I have disabled the featured image in the original review before translations, but in all secondary languages, it is still showing the featured image above content. I have to disable it manually in each translation. Same here:

In the review you mentioned in your reply, I have already disabled all featured images manually.

Hello,

Thank you for the details. Please update the following post in the original language, then update its translations and make sure you are getting the expected results or not.

The translation settings are stored for each post separately. So we have to update it once we change the settings. But it will be working fine for the new posts.

I created a test post(private) and it works for me. Please check the following URL and let us know your feedback.

Hello, I have updated this post - hidden link and translated it again, but the result is the same - the featured image is enabled in all the translations. I can only disable it by editing each translation manually.

Hello There,
I hope you're doing well.

As Bigul is on vacation, I've taken this ticket and will be assisting you from here.

I've checked and am happy to inform you that the issue is fixed now. The translation setting for the feature image field (identified as "_generate-disable-post-image") was configured as "Don't Translate". As a result, the value wasn't copied to the translated post.

From "WPML > Settings > Custom Field Translations", I change the setting to "Copy" which solved the issue. Please check this post: hidden link

For now, You just need to save the default review post so that the value can get copied to the translations. If you want to change the translation preference of other fields as well, search for the field name from the browser developer tool and set the translation preference as per your needs. Please check this screenshot(hidden link) for a better understanding.

Please let me know if there is anything else if you need help with.

Best regards,
Prosenjit
