Hi,

String translation is not working properly on my website. On home page I added the string tranlsation for "Explore" button but it is not working.

1- Could you please tell me how those buttons are added to the page (are you using any page builder, or theme option to add them)?

2- If the button is part of a theme or plugin, can you please check the documentation in this link: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/string-translation/finding-strings-that-dont-appear-on-the-string-translation-page/#scan-the-theme-or-plugin

3- Can you please share a screenshot of the other strings that are not working?

Hi,

The button is added using template files and it is working fine few days ago. But suddenly stopped working. I update all the WPML plugins but still same issue.

When I activate "Auto register string for translatation" in string translation page then it works fine.

I would need temporary access to your site's WP-admin to investigate this issue and understand it better. Please create an administrator user using any email address you prefer.

Please fully back up your site (files and database) and confirm it in your next reply.

Hi,

Thank you for the access, I was able to check.

You mentioned that it was working before, can you recall if the issue started to happen when you installed any plugin or if you made a specific change on any theme option?

Would it be possible to check if the issue happens in a minimal setup, meaning:

- keep the theme you have
- keep active only WPML Plugins and must-have plugins
- disable all other plugins

After, check if the issue is still happening. This will help check if there is any issue with any other plugin going on.

Note: Please make sure you have a full backup (files & database) before trying anything on your website.

As an alternative you can try disabling the other plugins (not WPML) one by one while checking if the issue persists.

Hi,

I figureout the issue. The issue is with Contact Form 7 plugin.

After deactivating this plugin, the string translation works fine but after activating, string translation stoped working.

Can you please check and provide me solution for this.

Could you please try installing Contact Form 7 Multilingual from this link: https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/using-contact-form-7-with-wpml/

After installing the plugin, check if the issue persists and let me know.

* Note: Please make sure you have a full backup of your website before making any updates/changes to your website.

Hi,

I've checked the staging site you provided access and I noticed that you have the ACF plugin installed but the ACFML (https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/translate-sites-built-with-acf/) is not installed.

Can you please install ACFML as well and check if the issue persists?

I install the ACFML plugin but still same issue. Please look into this again and fix this issue.

Also, I gave you full access so you can also install and uninstall plugins to verify and fix this issue.

Hi,

Thank you for the update.

Could you please update all WPML plugins to the latest version?
The latest version of WPML Multilingual CMS is 4.6.10, please update manually using FTP or cPanel and see if this resolves your issue.

I tried updating from the staging site but it wasn't possible directly, and I wasn't able to access the FTP you provided.

To do a manual update please follow these steps:

- Deactivate the existing WPML plugin and add-ons.

- Delete the plugin files – this does not delete your translations. You will simply delete the plugin files from your "wp-content/plugins" folder, NOT the database records.

- Download the updated plugins from our servers (https://wpml.org/account/downloads/) and upload/extract them to the plugin directory "wp-content/plugins".

- Activate the WPML plugin and add-ons.

Please let me know if this resolves your issue or if you need further assistance with this issue.

You won't lose any data as the data is saved in the database but you can create a full website backup before if you want to feel extra safe.
