Background of the issue:
I am trying to translate posts, products, and pages on my website hidden link using WPML. I expected to save translations, translate permalinks and titles, and use the Advanced Editor. To be able to save anything, we have to switch to Classic editor and complete translations and then manually change title and permalinks.

Symptoms:
Translations are not saving, permalinks and titles are not updating, and it shows a gear icon instead of a pencil icon even if the translation is 100% complete. Therefore, the products are not publishing.

Questions:
Why are translations not saving?
Why are permalinks and titles not updating?
Why does it show a gear icon instead of a pencil icon when the translation is complete?
Why are products not publishing?

Hi,

Welcome to WPML support.

Would you please check if the steps below work for you?

- Go to your Dashboard > Pages.
- Open the edit screen of the original page. You should see a pencil/circle/gear icon in the sidebar options under the "Languages" section.
- Make a small change, for example, add an extra blank space at the end of a sentence/paragraph.
- Save it.
- You should now see that a circular arrow appears beside the 2nd languages links, this means that an update is required.
- Edit the translation to go to the Advanced Translation Editor.
- At the top-right of the screen you will see a gear/setting icon. CLick that.
- Enable the previous version of the Advanced translation editor and make sure you add something in the feedback box to make sure the result is saved.
- The page will reload and make sure you have set the translation 100% complete.
- See if it fixes the issue?

Hi Christopher

Thanks for that suggestion. We have worked with WPML for almost 5 years now and have already tested all these checks. Unfortunately we are experiencing a bug here or some sort of issue, that the synchronisation is not working.
Yesterday I also noticed, that none of the links on buttons for example for translatable. Which meant I had to go in manually into the English version of the page and the English product link. I remember we were able to do that in the Translation editor right?

Then once I updated all the links on the page, the translation would complete.

The issue on the Woocommerce products and pages about titles and permalinks is still existing, we have to manually go into the English or French version of the pages and change them to complete translation...

Any suggestion on how we can fix this?

Hi,

Thank you for the test and sorry for the late reply as Fridays and Saturdays are my weekends.

I will need to check the website to see why this is happening. Please tell me which product to check.

I'd appreciate it if you could give me the URL/User/Pass of your WordPress dashboard after you make sure that you have a backup of your website.
It is absolutely important that you give us a guarantee that you have a backup so if something happens you will have a point of restore.

Make sure you set the next reply as private.

One additional point is to test if the advanced translation editor version has anything to do with the problem that you're experiencing.

Go to the advanced translation editor from the top right section and click the settings icon.

You will see an option to enable the previous version of the advanced translation editor.

Enable that option and provide feedback to force the page to reload then try to make sure that the transition is hundred percent complete and see if it fixes the problem.

If not, please provide me with the product link and the login information and I will investigate.

Thanks.
