This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
After changing the website from WPML Development to Production, some translations are missing, and links are not working correctly. For instance, the translation for the "Beschrijving" tab in Dutch is displaying as "Bes," and links such as "BOOK THIS TOUR" are not functioning as expected. The issue seems to affect some pages, and the user is unable to locate the German translation for certain buttons.

Solution:

go to WPML->Supporrt->Troubleshooting-> Show custom MO Files Pre generation dialog box to trigger the .mo file generation

Once I run it - it finishes successfully generating the .mo files with no error.

Dear Support,

I changed website in WPML from Development to Productions. Although they look fine in ATE (as far I can see) = I emptied all Caches

Before I did that, Translations were fine, After, I see SOME Translation Missing, and Links do not work. Some examples:

Product Page (Translation of TAB = Bes

Dutch = TAB = Beschrijving

Spanish = TAB = Descricion

German = TAB = Beschreibung

Also some links do not work anymore, some examples (they were 100% okay for change from WPML Development to WPML Productions!

Some examples:

So translations were fine, now in Production Stage, it is messed up big time☹

Thank you for opening a new ticket.

Did you recently also move your site from one domain to another? For example a development domain to a live domain?

Any other changes that were possibly made? such as making a change on those pages that could of triggered the lost translation.

Hi Bobby,

I did not, first WPML problems were serious, took me 3 weeks of delay, no fault on my site, Itamar, solved this.

I only changed development to production.

As I will leave next week to Costa Rica, and more needs to be done, please solve this.

Had too many problems (these are on my side), I can not do a lot from there since poor inter acess.

I need this to be resolved very soon!, let me know what I can do on my site.

Hi Bobby,

I have a back-up, from hosting provider, from 1 pm, changed from WPML for dvelopment to production, was probably after that.

Let me know, I can put it back, than you can repeat Development to Production and see yourself.

I am putting now back-up back, before it went wrong, so before I changed WPML Development, to Registration.

Then you can see what happens, you have all my input and logins.

This is crucial!! (okay, I might lose some work), no problems, but in Costa Rica this kind of problem I cannot handle there. And my time frame is not long anymore!

Did you or second leve tier support, look at this, I am heren till till wednesday 29th December.

If possible, would like to resolve, this problem.

Strange thing, it does happen not on all pages, but on some.

Hi There,

Unfortunately, this is not something that I have been able to reproduce. As mentioned switching from development to live does not affect your translations, this is all done on a license level which does not have anything to do with translations and does not affect their database tables.

1. On the pages the translation is missing what are your results if you add the missing translation and save it -- does it work ok?

2. You mentioned you have a backup, using that backup are you able to reproduce this behavior?

Also do note that this thread is a public thread only chat support is not public, we can remove any information you do not want displaying but we do not have the option to mark it "private"

Strange thing in the ATE if I look for English Book this Tour, it does not show up, so not sure, ho to translate, strange thing, for most pages it works well.

Hi there,

These 3 buttons you are mentioning how are they added? Are they default buttons from your theme or 3rd party plugin or did you add them manually using your page builder.

What are your results if you make a small change in the default language of the page and update then update the translation again, does the Book Now button translate?

For example, when I view the button in Spanish it shows translated, therefore possibly the German translation is missing.

Will try that. I have major problems now, my default shop page does not work, see below. I can not figure out, what this caused, hosting provider (will also check with Divi / Woo Commerce.

That button thing, I will try, but these button do not show up anymore in the (default ATE), rest is solved by the way.

Please have al look at below message (buttons is minor now - will try the small change!)

Note, suddenly got this WPML message (please 2nd tier support), I can / bad internet in Costa Rica and tomorrow gone.

WPML String Translation is attempting to write .mo files with translations to folder:
/mnt/web104/c1/22/511847122/htdocs/STRATO-apps/wordpress_02/app/wp-content/languages
This folder appears to be not writable. This is blocking translation for strings from appearing on the site.
To resolve this, please contact your hosting company and request that they make that folder writable.
For more details, see WPML's documentation on troubleshooting .mo files generation.

Hi there,

Were you able to contact your hosting provider? Typically this message is shown because WPML cannot access your and write to the languages folder.

Go to wp-content/languages and verify it's writable also verify a sub folder called wpml exists in there.

Your hosting provider should be able to resolve this quickly in case the permissions are not allowing us to write to that folder.

I tried to locate the folder (and sent hosting provider (but they are very slow, and cannot call them, as in Costa Rica.

Any Idea, where to look for the folder. You seem to have found it

I checked all folders, and they seem to be writable, all of WMPL, but can not find the above specified folder.

If you login, you can see:

with WP File Manager (please dont change the .htacess file)

I no longer have acces to do this, however, go to wp-content/languages/ and let me know if the folder wpml exists.

If it does not create a new folder within /languages and name it wpml

then let me know your results
