My wordpress websites crashes every time I upload the ogts installer plugin.

Please let me know if the issue is still happening after testing it on your staging site with minimal settings. Thanks!

Hi Lauren, we created a staging site and switched the theme to twenty twenty-three and deactivated all plugins. When we upload the OTGS Installer and activate it, we are still getting the same error message:

Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Class 'WP_Upgrader_Skin' not found in /home/799354.cloudwaysapps.com/rtsjgegjux/public_html/wp-content/plugins/otgs-installer-plugin/vendor/otgs/installer/includes/class-installer-upgrader-skins.php:3 Stack trace: #0 /home/799354.cloudwaysapps.com/rtsjgegjux/public_html/wp-content/plugins/otgs-installer-plugin/vendor/otgs/installer/includes/class-otgs-installer-autoloader.php(18): include() #1 [internal function]: OTGS_Installer_Autoloader->autoload() #2 [internal function]: spl_autoload_call() #3 /home/799354.cloudwaysapps.com/rtsjgegjux/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php(649): unserialize() #4 /home/799354.cloudwaysapps.com/rtsjgegjux/public_html/wp-includes/option.php(253): maybe_unserialize() #5 /home/799354.cloudwaysapps.com/rtsjgegjux/public_html/wp-includes/cron.php(1181): get_option() #6 /home/799354.cloudwaysapps.com/rtsjgegjux/public_html/wp-includes/cron.php(763): _get_cron_array() #7 /home/799354.cloudwaysapps.com/rtsjgegjux/public_html/wp-includes/cron.php(815): wp_get_schedule in /home/799354.cloudwaysapps.com/rtsjgegjux/public_html/wp-content/plugins/otgs-installer-plugin/vendor/otgs/installer/includes/class-installer-upgrader-skins.php on line 3

If we upload the WPML plugin directly without using the OTGS Installer, we get a similar error message:

Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Class 'WP_Upgrader_Skin' not found in /home/799354.cloudwaysapps.com/rtsjgegjux/public_html/wp-content/plugins/sitepress-multilingual-cms/vendor/otgs/installer/includes/class-installer-upgrader-skins.php:3 Stack trace: #0 /home/799354.cloudwaysapps.com/rtsjgegjux/public_html/wp-content/plugins/sitepress-multilingual-cms/vendor/otgs/installer/includes/class-otgs-installer-autoloader.php(18): include() #1 [internal function]: OTGS_Installer_Autoloader->autoload() #2 [internal function]: spl_autoload_call() #3 /home/799354.cloudwaysapps.com/rtsjgegjux/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php(649): unserialize() #4 /home/799354.cloudwaysapps.com/rtsjgegjux/public_html/wp-includes/option.php(253): maybe_unserialize() #5 /home/799354.cloudwaysapps.com/rtsjgegjux/public_html/wp-includes/cron.php(1181): get_option() #6 /home/799354.cloudwaysapps.com/rtsjgegjux/public_html/wp-includes/cron.php(763): _get_cron_array() #7 /home/799354.cloudwaysapps.com/rtsjgegjux/public_html/wp-includes/cron.php(815): wp_ge in /home/799354.cloudwaysapps.com/rtsjgegjux/public_html/wp-content/plugins/sitepress-multilingual-cms/vendor/otgs/installer/includes/class-installer-upgrader-skins.php on line 3

The error is similar in both cases - the class "WP_Upgrader_Skin" is not found even though the file where it is defined does exist.

Please advise as to next steps. We can provide WP admin access to the staging site as well as ftp access if you need it, let us know what email you would like to use for your credentials.

It's possible the permissions are not set correctly and that's why this file cannot be found. I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take better look at the issue. You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.

Our Debugging Procedures

I will be checking various settings in the backend to see if the issue can be resolved. Although I won't be making changes that affect the live site, it is still good practice to backup the site before providing us access. In the event that we do need to debug the site further, I will duplicate the site and work in a separate, local development environment to avoid affecting the live site.

Privacy and Security Policy

We have strict policies regarding privacy and access to your information. Please see:
https://wpml.org/purchase/support-policy/privacy-and-security-when-providing-debug-information-for-support/

**IMPORTANT**

- Please make a backup of site files and database before providing us access.

- If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this: hidden link

Can you send me the steps to reproduce the error on the staging site? I installed WPML on the staging site by activating the core plugin and ran through the configuration without any error showing up, so I think I am missing something somewhere.

Hi Lauren, we went to take a look and found that the staging site is down with a critical error. Could you look into it?

I'm seeing the following error:

PHP Fatal error: Uncaught RuntimeException: Failed to locate and load object cache API in /home/799354.cloudwaysapps.com/spdneqkuqy/public_html/wp-content/object-cache.php:56

I suggest contacting the hosting provider in case they can provide more input. Once that object cache error is resolved let me know and if there is an error related to WPML I'll be happy to look into it.

Hi Lauren, there was a server configuration issue which has now been fixed. The staging site is working and I see that you succeeded in installing and activating the core WPML plugin. I am going to try to install the string translation plugin and see if that activates on the staging site.

Hi Lauren, after resolving the issue with the object caching setup, the staging site came back up and the core WPML plugin was installed and configured.

I uploaded the string translation plugin and activated it without any issues. I also added the extensions for Contact Form 7 and Yoast SEO without any issues.

So I activated the main theme and all its plugins on the staging site and everything was working normally. Then I pushed the staging site to the live site and it's all working correctly again.

For whatever reason we could not activate either OTGS installer or the core WPML plugin without getting the fatal error described in the original ticket post. Not sure why you didn't run into the same issue but it's all good - it's all working correctly now.

Question: we don't really need the OTGS installer plugin, do we? It is installed but not activated. If it's not needed, we'd prefer deleting it.

Thanks for your help with this matter.

Glad to hear that everything seems to be working nicely now. If WPML is installed and working, you can safely remove the OTGS Installer plugin.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance and I will be happy to help.
