This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are developing a site using Elementor and WPML, with everything set to auto-translate. However, the links within the text widgets of Elementor do not correctly point to the translated French pages but remain linked to the English versions.
Solution:
First, ensure that the page translation is set to review, indicated by the eye icon next to the French language. When editing the translation, check that the strings supposed to be links are highlighted correctly with the "a" and "strong" tags. If they are not, manually adjust them to ensure they are highlighted as links. Completing this step should correct the link direction in the translated version. For detailed guidance on safe HTML editing in translations, please visit our documentation: Advanced Translation Editor - Safe HTML Editing.

If this solution does not apply to your case, or if it seems outdated, we recommend opening a new support ticket. Additionally, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Background of the issue:
I am developing a site using Elementor and WPML. I have set everything to auto translate. I have also used the string translator for several items.

Symptoms:
The links within the text widgets of Elementor do not point to the correct version. They all still point to the English pages instead of the French pages.

Questions:
Is there a way to change the links within text widgets automatically now that the auto translate process has completed?

Hi,

If those are links from Elementor’s Social Icons widgets, you might experience the following known issue.

https://wpml.org/errata/elementor-social-icons-widget-links-and-attributes-translation-issues/

Please check if this is the case and apply the suggested workaround.

If that's not the case, please try the Translate Link Targets option in WPML -> Settings. Go there, press the 'Scan now and adjust links' button, and wait for the process to complete. Then, please check if it fixes the problem.

Regards,
Itamar.

I tried the Translate Link Targets and it completed. It said 18 links were changed to point to the translated content. I checked the links I knew had the issue but those unfortunately were not translated. Is there something else i can try?

The site is completely backed up.

-- removed by the support team --

These pages have links within the paragraphs that are still pointing to the English page versions: The links to that open to PDF are fine as they are.

There was one incorrect url in my previous reply, here's the correct one.

Also, I can make all these changes manually, I was just hoping to do it with an automated WPML feature. Let me know if you'd rather I make the manual edits.

Thanks again!
Brian

Hi, and thanks for the access details.

Let's please take the "Lead" page as an example. It is set to review the translation. I can tell it by the eye icon next to the French language. Please see the attached screenshot need-review.jpg. So, when I edited the translation, I could see that the string that was supposed to be a link was not highlighted with the correct "a" and "strong" markers. Please see the attached screenshot not-highlighted.jpg. It worked When I marked the links and completed the translation. Please see the attached screenshots not-highlighted.jpg and links-ok.jpg.

Please read about it in our guide here.

https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/advanced-translation-editor/#safe-html-editing

If you proceed with this on the other pages, the problem should be fixed.

Regards,
Itamar.
