[Resolved] translated blog posts point to home page
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client noticed that all Spanish translations of their blog posts were redirecting to the homepage instead of the individual blog posts. Solution: We recommended checking if the translated posts were visible on the frontend when logged in as an admin. If visible, the issue might be that the posts are in Draft mode. The client should edit these posts and publish them to see if this resolves the issue.
If this solution does not apply or is outdated, we recommend opening a new support ticket. We also advise checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. This is the technical support forum for WPML - the multilingual WordPress plugin.
Everyone can read, but only WPML clients can post here. WPML team is replying on the forum 6 days per week, 22 hours per day.
Background of the issue:
I was entering some new blog posts in English today and when I checked the Spanish translations I noticed all of our blog posts point to our home page, not the individual blog posts. How can I fix this?
Thank you for contacting WPML support, I’m happy to help you with this issue.
If you login to your site with an admin account, do you see the translation post in the frontend? If yes, it is possible that the translation post is in Draft mode.
Please edit the translation post and publish it then check the issue again.
If it does not help, I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site so I can take a better look at the issue. It would be better to have a testing site where the issue is replicated. Your next reply is set to private to share the info.
❌ IMPORTANT: Please backup your database and website before proceeding ❌
You can use this plugin to create the backup: https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/
✙ I would need your permission to de-activate and re-activate Plugins and the Theme to change configurations on the site if needed. This is also a reason the backup is critical.
Sorry to keep you waiting. I'd like to keep this ticket open. I've been working on things and will have a few questions that I'd like to submit on Monday.
I was able to get the translations to update with valid links to their respective content. It was a frustrating process. Like you, I tried disabling plugins, changing the theme to the default, etc. What it took was forcing the translations to re-translate with all caching and security tools turned off. Again, quite frustrating.
The last problem (for now) is to learn why the Spanish translations are not retaining formatting information compared to the original English posts. Let's use this one post as an example: hidden link
Use the language switcher to change to the Spanish version: hidden link
The line breaks in the blockquote lists do not carry over to Spanish.
Here's another post where formatting does not carry over: hidden link
And the Spanish version: hidden link
I'm happy to give you admin access to WP and FTP, but this does not look like the secure form I was expecting.
Let me know if you'd like access.
Thanks,
Jim Lawrence

I understand the issue with the translation posts pointing to the homepage is resolved. We limit one issue per ticket only so I will split your new issue with the line breaks into a new ticket for better handling.
Thanks.
