This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem:
The client is using WPML to manage an English-USA and English-Canada version of their site, with content duplicated across these languages. They are encountering an issue where not all URLs on the English-Canada pages are correctly updating to include the 'en-ca' locale. Specifically, some links, like a button under the title 'People + Process + Product = Success', do not reflect the 'en-ca' locale.
Solution:
We recommend disabling the WPML Translation Editor and using the WordPress editor for duplicating pages. When duplicating, ensure that any links inserted are full path links (e.g.,
https://www.domain.com/company/contact-us/
) instead of relative links (e.g.,
/company/contact-us/
) to enable correct URL translation by WPML. If you need to make independent changes to a duplicated page, such as updating links or customizing content for the Canadian version, you can select 'Translate independently' on the translation page. This action will stop the synchronization with the original content, allowing for specific adjustments.
For detailed guidance, please refer to our documentation on using different translation editors: Using Different Translation Editors for Different Pages.
