<b>Background of the issue: </b>
I am trying to translate pages with the same paragraph markup (structure) as the original.

<b>Symptoms: </b>
In WYSIWYG field, translated pages are adding breaks (br) after every sentence. Edit: Just noticed its also on standard blog posts, who are also using WYSIWYG Editor.

<b>Questions: </b>
Why are breaks being added after every sentence in the WYSIWYG field on translated pages?
How can I ensure the translated pages have the same markup as the original?

Hi Osama,

we created a block with two fields, both show the line breaks after translation.

The german page is the original that we submitted for translation.

Thank you!

Hi,

So, the issue doesn't happen on the sandbox site.

Please create a new test page on your site and share its URL.

Also, I would need to look closely at your site, so I would need to request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP)
Preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated.

Your answer will be private, meaning only you and I can access it.

❌ Please backup your database and website ❌

✙ I need your permission to deactivate and reactivate the plugins and themes and change site configurations. This is also why the backup is critical.

✙ I also need your permission to take a local copy of your site to debug the issue without affecting your live site.

Best regards,
Osama

Hi Osama,

no, it happens in the sandbox too.

Please compare the german test site and the english translation.

If you compare the contents of the page you can see, that the automatic translation (to english) has line breaks after every sentence.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I disabled the "I prefer bigger segments" option in the translation editor.

Would you please check if the issue persists?

Thanks,
Osama

hi osama,

can you elaborate what excactly you did? we are using auto translate, so we never face the advanced translation editor. our translation settings are attached.

PS: i started a manual translation to access the advanced translation editor setting, changed the said setting, switched to auto again and retranslated. did not changed anything. (see screenshot attached)

i can give you login to a copy of this page if you like.

Hi,

After changing the setting, please make a minor edit to the page in the default language and update it.

After that, please go to WPML-> Translation Management, send the page to Automatic Translation, and check the translated page on the front end.

Kindly let me know if the above approach fixed the issue.

Best regards,
Osama

Hi,

Thanks for the access details. I created a hidden link">new page on your site to replicate the issue and translated it automatically.

The translated page doesn't have the extra line breaks. Kindly check it on the hidden link">front end.

Also, I checked the translated home page and the text appeared correctly.

Kindly let me know if I missed something while reproducing the issue on the newly created page.

Best regards,
Osama

hi osama,

sorry, i forgot to mention that this block you translated was changed after i made this thread. so this block does not have the WYSIWYG editor anymore, i switched it to textarea.

but i copied the blocks in question on the page you created. its called "iconbox" and still uses the WYSIWYG editor. can you test again?
