Background of the issue:
I am using the WPML plugin to manage translations on my WordPress site. I am currently facing issues with the images on the translated versions of my product pages.

Symptoms:
The images in the gallery of products do not appear on the translated product pages.

Questions:
Why can't I see the images in the gallery on the translated product pages?
How can I fix the issue of missing images in the product gallery on translated pages?

Hi there,

It might be the fact that you use a third-party plugin for the gallery and the custom fields created by that plugin to show the gallery are not set as copy on WPML.

Please go to WordPress Dashboard > WPML > Settings > Custom Field Translation

At the top right of the table search for the word:

gallery

See if there is a relevant result. If yes, please set it as COPY.

For more information:

https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/translating-custom-fields/

After that please do as follows:

- Go to your Dashboard > Products.
- Open the edit screen of the original product. You should see a pencil/circle/gear icon in the sidebar options under the "Languages" section.
- Make a small change, for example, add an extra blank space at the end of a sentence/paragraph.
- Save it.
- You should now see that a circular arrow appears beside the 2nd languages links, this means that an update is required.
- Edit the translation again and save it up to 100% translated.

See if it fixes the issue.

If not, I'd appreciate it if you could give me the URL/User/Pass of your WordPress dashboard after you make sure that you have a backup of your website.
It is absolutely important that you give us a guarantee that you have a backup so if something happens you will have a point of restore.

Make sure you set the next reply as private.

Also tell us which product to check for the gallery.

Thanks.

Hi there,

Thank you for the login info. I spent some time and I found odd things happening on the website.

One thing is that the product that you gave the screenshot of (Freckles Prestige) is actually in English as the main language and it is waiting for the completion of the translation from a user called belecolukso

Please enter with that user and make sure the translation is complete.

Also another thing I see is that if I go to the single product edit screen the translation is set to Native WordPress editor which is not recommended.

Would you please check your staging website and see if those are different?

If you can share the login info for the staging website I might get a better clue why this is happening.

Thanks.

Hi,

First, I was not notified of your answer, and I wasted 7 hours before I decided to connect to WPML to check. Why was I not automatically notified?

I don't understand but now all the product images are present in English version!

Maybe the other WPML engineer did something. I'll ask.

I don't understand this.Could you clarify: "Also another thing I see is that if I go to the single product edit screen the translation is set to Native WordPress editor which is not recommended."

Do you ask me to select "WPML Translation Editor" for all products? By the way, I never set this. Maybe the other WPML engineer; I don't know.

Regards

Hi there,

Thank you for your reply. That is strange you should get a notification when there is an answer by a supporter by default.

Would you please check the spam folder of your email to see if the messages somehow go there?

I also see that the gallery images now show correctly on English version.

Regarding the native editor, yes the default one should be Advanced Translation Editor.

No worries, you can set it on the right side if you want to do a translation.

Also if you use the recommended way to translate the product:

Wordpress Dashboard > Woocommerce > Woocommerce Multilingual and multi-currency > Products (tab)

You will be redirected to the translation editor by default and all is good.

It seems that the issue with galleries which was the original question fixed. So we can set this ticket as resolved.

Feel free to open up a new chat or ticket if you have additional questions.

Thanks.

Hi,

"Advanced Translation Editor." doesn't exist on WordPress. Do you mean this button?

hidden link

I didn't receive any notification with this new email, and in SPAM, you should escalate it to the WPML IT team.
