Background of the issue:
I am trying to translate all the strings in my WordPress site using WPML, but some text files or strings are not appearing in the String Translation module. I have already scanned the theme and plugins for strings. The issue can be seen on this page: hidden link.

Symptoms:
Some texts are missing in the String Translation list. For example, the button 'Alle Projekte ansehen' is shown in German, but I cannot find this string in WPML to translate it into Spanish, English, French, Dutch, or Italian.

Questions:
Why are some strings not appearing in the WPML String Translation module?
How can I make all theme texts properly translatable in WPML?

Hello,

thanks for reaching out to us.

I am not sure if you have built this theme, but strings in PHP files need to follow WordPress codex in order to be translatable, and be wrapped in get text call.

Please try to check the code and see if the strings are actually correctly wrapped:

If you are wishing to translate the string that is not coming from PHP files, but was added somehow else please let me know more details.

Regards,
Drazen

Hello,

I need your assistance because I am experiencing an issue with my website. I followed the steps you suggested, but the text from the different pages does not load, so I cannot edit or translate it.

The theme I am using was purchased from Envato (I did not develop it myself). Could you please help me solve this issue? I need to deliver the site in one week, so it’s quite urgent.

Kind Regards,
Francisco E

Hello Francisco,

sure, I can try to check and help, but not since it is not officially compatible there might be a need to contact theme author to ask for some help or adjusting code to work with WPML and etc.

Please share the access details of your website, so I can log in and take a look.

Please backup the site files and database before providing us access.

Please share URL where I can see string not translated.

Thanks,
Drazen

Hello Francisco,

I have checked and I can see that some of the content are post type that are not translated.

For example Real estate, testimonials and agents and their related taxonomies. You need to set these post types to Translatable and then translate them.

Since theme is not officially compatible, there could be some missing data when translating these post types, so maybe best would be to disable WPML editor and continue with manual translation.

Please check related doc:
- https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/using-different-translation-editors-for-different-pages/

After translating all of this, you will need to re-translate homepage so correct translated content is not loaded.

Please continue and let me know if you get stuck.

Also, maybe you wish to consider using officially compatible theme with WPML, so you can use automatic translation and etc.
