Background of the issue:
I imported my French product descriptions from Store Manager for Woocommerce. The descriptions display correctly in the Woocommerce administration and on the user side. I then tried to translate the imported description using WPML.

Symptoms:
When the WPML editor is displayed, it shows the old product description, the one from before the import. Even after editing and saving the description via Woocommerce, the old description continues to be displayed when attempting to translate.

Questions:
Why does the WPML editor display the old product description?
Did I miss something in the WPML configuration?

Hi,

Welcome to WPML support. I'd appreciate it if you could get back to us when you manage to replicate the problem with the Store Manager import process and WPML.

Thank you.

Hi,

I installed the plugin and tested it.
On the new installation, the product description text is correctly detected and translatable.

This is not the case on my site... On my side, Store manager for Woocommerce detects the 2 descriptions clearly (fr) and (en). So I can still update the products.

But I'd like to understand why WPML doesn't detect the content correctly. Because I don't understand the logic.

Thanks,
Guillaume

Hi Guillaume,

mmm... That is strange, maybe there are some sort of other plugins in the way?

Would you please test this:

- IMPORTANT STEP! Create a backup of your website. Or better approach will be to test this on a copy/staging version of the website to avoid any disruption of a live website.
- Switch to the default theme such as "TwentyTwenty" by going to "WordPress Dashboard > Appearance > themes".
- Go to "WordPress Dashboard > Plugins" and deactivate all plugins except Woocommerce, WPML and WPML add-ons.
- Check if you can still recreate the issue.
- If not, re-activate your plugins one by one and check the issue each time to find out the plugin that causes the problem.

If the issue persists, I'd appreciate it if you could give me the URL/User/Pass of your WordPress dashboard after you make sure that you have a backup of your website.
It is absolutely important that you give us a guarantee that you have a backup so if something happens you will have a point of restore.

Make sure you set the next reply as private.

Also give us permission to copy your website for additional investigation if needed.
