Background of the issue:
I duplicated a brand page to India English using WPML. The original page is at hidden link and the duplicated page is at hidden link.

Symptoms:
The URL slug automatically adds 'in' at the end, and I am unable to find this brand page in the Sitemap.

Questions:
Why is 'in' automatically adding to the URL slug in the end?
Why can't I find this brand page in the Sitemap?

Hi,

before your ticket is assigned to one of my colleagues, please allow me to walk you through some initial debugging steps. This will help speed up the support process.

This was expected to include the language parameter, as WordPress requires a unique permalink for each language.

Currently, I don’t see any pages or posts from /in in your sitemap. This behavior is expected if no content exists for that language, especially since you’re using the language fallback option and the actual content doesn’t physically exist: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/displaying-untranslated-content-on-pages-in-secondary-languages/

Best Regards
Marcel

Hi there,

Glad to hear that you are now seeing the pages on the sitemap! Duplicating them will do the trick.

As my colleague mentioned earlier, the reason this is happening to your URL permalink, is because WordPress requires a unique permalink for each language.

You can edit the URl to be unique but if it's exactly the same WordPress will automatically generate either the language parameter or -2 in the permalinks.
