This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem:
The client added a new WPML site key to their new page and needs to translate just the strings of the site initially, but plans to use automatic translation for all text later. They are concerned about enabling automatic translation prematurely.
Solution:
We recommend selecting the 'Translate What You Choose' mode initially to control what gets translated. Later, when the site is complete and ready for full translation, the client can change the setting to automatic translation by navigating to WPML > Settings > Translation Mode. For current string translation needs, please follow our documentation on string translation: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/string-translation/
If this solution does not apply to your situation, or if it seems outdated, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If further assistance is needed, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.
