  1. Hi, I currently manage our work website which has a legislative requirement to be in both English & Irish. We have been using xLanguage for the last few years, which has worked well but is no longer being supported and out-of-date plugins are always a concern. xLanguage, as you may be aware, uses tags to differentiate the languages within one post whereas I understand that WPML separates the languages into two areas. I am considering moving to WPML but need to know if there is any method of importing our current Posts. We have over 1000 translated news items which I want to retain.
    Thanks

    • Hi Ciaran,
when you import posts to your WordPress (using the regular WordPress import/export mechanism) and you have your WPML activated, WPML will ask you to set a language for the posts you are importing. But in the end you will be able to attach post in different languages with their translations. There is no automatic way provided by WPML to do this (to say WordPress which post is a translation of which one). So answering your initial question, you will not lose you translations but it will require some work to make the necessary assignments.

      • Hi Agnes, thanks for the prompt reply… If I split all my posts into the two separate languages, when I go to import I’m assuming I will import one language only….and then have to update each post individually with the second language? Is there a way to import the two languages so that they appear as one translated post in WPML ? I know this is a big ask..but the thought of modifying over 1000 post will sway my view on how to proceed.

        • Hi Ciaran,
a post in a given language is stored in WPML as a separate post. So for example if you have a post in English translated to two more languages, let’s say German and French, you will actually have 3 WordPress posts.

So you can import the whole group of posts and set a language for them. Next, you can import another group of posts and set another language for them. Etc. This is not a problem. The problem is that then you have to match them: to tell WPML which post is a translation for which one. This way, if your visitor reads a post/page titled ‘About us’ and clicks the language switcher to see the Genram verions he/she will be moved directly to its equivalent, which would be “über uns” page, not a home page.

  2. I am interested to buy WMPL plugin. Does this purchase includes: WPML, WPML Translation Management, WPML String Translation and WPML Media?
Do you have support for Serbian language?
    Do you support Serbian currency?

    Thank you!

  3. Hi,

I’m not sure if I’m in the right section to ask pre-sales questions I couldn’t find an email address to forward messages to, if you could direct me to a proper email address if I’m not that would be perfect.

    Questions,

We have two websites that require french language translation for our customers. Before we purchase a plugin I want to make sure that this service meets our customers needs.

    A. So basically how this works is that it sets up a wordpress website with a mutlilingual platform which customers then use to forward their material for translation. Once that material is translated they can post it to their website through the wpml interface.

    B. Is there a turn around time for translations.

    Karim

    • Hi Karim, thanks for your questions.

WPML makes you WordPress site multilingual but doesn’t translate your contents. To translate your texts you have to possibilities:
      1. To provide the translations yourself
      2. To send a post/page to our professional translators from ICanLocalize service. This is integrated with WPML so you can do this directly from your WordPress admin and you also receive it directly to your WordPress.
Here you will see a video how it works:

  4. Hello and congats about your plugin.
I would like to make a question before I buy it.

If I buy the 79$ cms and within the year I decide to jump to the lifetime version, can I pay the difference(116$) or I have to buy it full price(195$)?

  6. Hi,

I have a client who need his website to be bilingual on English and Russian, just wondering how do I go about and how much it cost for WPML, and what exactly WPML doing on it?

Hope to hear from you soon. Best Regards

    Mertz

    • Hi Mertz,

WPML provides you an interface allowing to translate all your WordPress elements: posts, pages, tags, categories, custom post types, custom fields, different strings etc. So WPML makes you WordPress site multilingual but doesn’t translate your contents. To translate your texts you have to possibilities:
      1. To provide the translations yourself
      2. To send a post/page to our professional translators from ICanLocalize service. This is integrated with WPML so you can do this directly from your WordPress admin and you also receive it directly to your WordPress.

If you have more questions, please feel free to ask. I wil be happy to explain more if needed.

    • And one more thing. You buy only one license and you can use it for all the sites you are building, not only for this customer.

  7. Can the language of a post/page/categories be automatically switched to a language based on custom user meta data when that user logged in.

i.e. Default for site is English. Users can choose language option to be stored in the user meta data. When that user logs in, I would like the language to switch automatically to their preferred language.

    • Hi Joe,
If you mean your users who log in to your WordPress dashboard, each of them can set his default language for his admin using WPML settings.

  8. Hi,

I purches WPML and I did’n get any login an password. How can i download?
Would you check and sent me account data to my mail.

    thank you,
    With sincerely

  9. Hi, this is Rachel from Yozma Group and I would like to ask some more questions.

Yozma Group is a finance-related company, a venture capital. So I am wondering how effective WPML plugin would be, for our website, in translating finance-related technical terminology. Is it the level of Google translator, or does it offer higher level of translation? How does the plugin work? Does it automatically change the website into another language it supports, or does it only support the translated menu and we should translate the contents ourselves?

    Thanks,
    Rachel

  10. Hello,
I need a languahe plugin for my WordPress, but im only interressed by put flag in the top of the page. I don’t need traduction. Can i choose wpml for 29 $ ?
I just want the visitors clic on the flag and go to the page.

    • Hello,
is the site you are building going to be multilingual? What is the purpose of going to ‘this page’ after clicking the flag? I’ll be happy to help you but I need to understand what you need WPML for.

  11. Hi –

I have a client using your WPML-Marketpress glue plugin for the last few years, and we’re now looking to upgrade the plugins on their site. However, it seems that the WPML-Marketpress links have disappeared from your site.

Do you still support/provide WPML-Marketpress? If so, where can I find/purchase the latest version? If not, is there a final version of this plugin available and what versions of Marketpress/WP does this support?

    Thanks
    Marcus

    • I’m sorry but this plugin is not actively maintained. For on-line multilingual stores we have WooCommerce multilingual plugin.

  12. Hello!
My $79 1-year CMS licence expired and I would like to update my plugins.

I’m not prepared to upgrade to the $116 Lifetime yet. If I purchase another 1-year CMS for another $79, one year from now will I be given the option to upgrade to the Lifetime for $37?

I hope you can help me, it is a very strong point for my purchase 🙂

    Thanks!
    Ana

    • Hi, it works like this:
If you get the yearly account (either Blog or CMS), you can renew your account for 50% of the original price. Renewals at this rate are available while your account is still valid. You get another full year. If your account expires, you may buy a new account, or upgrade to a Lifetime account, but you cannot buy the renewal at 50%.

      • Hello Agnes,
Thank you very much for your response.

I’ll rephrase my questions and try to be more clear and direct:

        My account has already expired.

I notice that, to upgrade to the Lifetime, I won’t pay full price, but the difference. I can discount what I paid last year.

        Today
        Upgrade to the Lifetime account
        $195 (full price) – $79 (paid first year) = $116

Instead of upgrading, I am inclined to purchase the 1-year account again. In that case, within a year, will I be able to upgrade to the Lifetime account paying only the difference? (Please see example below)

        Within one year
        Upgrade to the Lifetime account
        $195 (full price) – $79 (paid first year) – $79 (paid second year) = $37

        Thank you again!
        Ana

        • Hi Ana,
thank you for you clarification. I’m sorry but it doesn’t work like this. The process is automated and your previous yearly purchases don’t sum up. You only have the possibilities which are visible in your WPML account. It is also important not to miss the upgrade before your license expires. If there is anything else I should explain, please let me know, I’ll be happy to help you. Thank you for using WPML.

  13. I was wondering if this plug in works on the front page? I have seen a lot of plugins that are just for the admin page. I need one for our customers to be able to use if they are in another country and looking at my WordPress site. Is this something that could work that way? Thanks for the help!

I need one for our customers to be able to use if they are in another country and looking at my WordPress site. Is this something that could work that way? We could plug it in on specific pages and they could choose which language they wanted? Let me know. Thanks!

    • Hello,
please login to your WPML account, enter your current company information and get a printable tax invoice on that name.

  16. Hello WPML:

I have all my documentation translated into their respective languages. Will the $29.00 package allow me to directly create new pages that link them to each section i.e. About Us? I don’t need direct translation at this time. Thank you for your time.

    Regards

    • Hi Jim, yes, with the $29 package you will be able to create your pages in different languages (you provide the translations). You will be also able to translate posts, categories, tags, menus, widgets. But with this blog version you will not be able to translate strings like for example the name of your blog or theme dependent strings.

  17. Hi,

If I buy your plugin with my personal credit card will I be able to get an invoice with my company details? I mean different credentials than those which I use for payment. There were some problems with company card and they couldn’t finish the payment.

    Thanks,
    Tom

  19. I only want the menu of the website translated, as we want to create pages that we translate ourselves. We will duplicate every page of the site and translate all the content as a machine driven translation will not work for us. so for the menu only translation – Is that possible with your product.

    • Hi Victoria,
WPML doesn’t translate your content automatically. WPML provides you an interface allowing to translate all your WordPress elements: posts, pages, menus, tags, categories, custom post types, custom fields, different strings etc. Answering your question, yes, you will be able to translate WP menus with WPML.

  20. Hola,

  21. How does WPML work with changes / versions?

For example: a custom post type “Products” contains productinformation in 3 languages.
Let’s say a product gets an update (for example an extra feature), and thus the information is updated in one language only.

Is there a way to keep track of which text (or even parts of text) should be updated accordingly (add the extra productfeature to the 2 other languages)?
