Hello!

I have set the translation option for all my ACF fields to "Same fields across languages" but for some reason the "Link" field inside a "Repeater" doesn't appear in the translations, the value gets copied from the French language. Any idea on how to fix this? The site is in staging, I can provide you with login credentials if needed.

Thanks.

Hello There,
Thanks for contacting WPML Support. I will try my best to assist you in this matter.

As the Translation mode for the Field group is set to "Same fields across languages", you should be able to add the translation from the ATE. However, please be informed that the Advanced Translation Editor hides URLs from the Advanced translation editor. Maybe for that reason, the link is not showing in the list.

In order to find and translate the value inserted into the link field, please follow the instructions mentioned here: https://wpml.org/faq/how-to-translate-urls-shortcodes-and-html-attributes-using-the-advanced-translation-editor/#translating-urls-with-the-advanced-translation-editor

Please let me know if that helps or if you need further assistance in this matter. I will be happy to help.

Best regards,
Prosenjit

Hello Prosenjit, the proposed solution doesn't work, I can't find anything in the search bar. Here's a video explaining the issue, hopefully it will help you find a solution:

Hi There,
Thanks for sharing the video. It really helps.

If the Translation mode is set to "Same field across languages", the translation preference for all fields will be set to "copy" by default. As a result, you'll not be able to make any changes manually by opening the translated page. That's why, you're seeing the lock icon.

Now, to add the translation, kindly follow the steps outlined below and check if that helps.

- Please go to "WPML > Setting" and scroll down to the "Custom field translation" section.
- Search for the link field
- If the field appears in the result, set the translation preference to "Translate"
- Save the changes.

After that, open the default page in the WordPress editor and make a small change. Following that, try to update the translation. I hope it will help.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance. I will be happy to help.

Best Regards,
Prosenjit

Hey Prosenjit, how are you? The "Translate" option is greyed out, here's a video explaining what I get:

Thanks again!

Hello There,
I'm doing well, and I hope you're too!

Thank you for sharing the video. If attempting to unlock the Field redirects you to the Field Group page, this indicates that the Translation Mode of the Field Group needs to be changed. Please follow the steps outlined below to see if they help in resolving the issue:

- Please go to "ACF > Field Groups" and open the Field group that contains the 'CTA' field.
- On the "Multilingual Setup" section, you'll see the option to change the Translation mode for the field group. Click on the "Change Option" link
- Select "Different field across languages" or "Expert" from the popup and save the Field Group.
- If you select "Expert", you'll be able to set the Translation preference for each field directly from the field group settings.

After choosing the best option, open the default page where the CTA field is present and make a small adjustment to the title of the page. After making this change, save the updates and update the translation. I hope you'll see that field unlocked after that.

Please note that you can only translate the custom field content using the native WordPress editor if the Translation mode is set to "Different fields across languages"

More info: https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/translate-sites-built-with-acf/recommended-custom-fields-translation-preferences-for-acf-and-wpml/#pre-set-translation-preferences

Let me know if that helps to solve the issue or if you need further assistance in this matter. I will be happy to help.

Best Regards,
Prosenjit

Thank you Prosenjit, that solved it.

So basically we use the option "Same fields across languages" only if "Link" ain't present?

Have a good weekend!
