This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is experiencing an issue where automatic translations with DeepL are defaulting to Portuguese from Portugal (PT-PT) instead of Brazilian Portuguese (PT-BR) when translating content.
Solution:
We have implemented a fix in our systems to address this issue. We recommend that the client updates to the latest version of WPML to resolve the problem with DeepL translations. After updating, the client should be able to translate to Portuguese - BR without the translations defaulting to Portuguese - PT.

If this solution doesn't look relevant, please open a new support ticket.

Hi there, I found this old thread https://wpml.org/forums/topic/translations-show-wrong-dialect/ and I'd like to point out that the problem is still persisting 🙁 In automatic translation with DeepL it falls back to PT-PT instead of PT-BR. I'm translating the original content into two languages and DeepL is actually very efficient and I'm happily spending more credits, if the results are better. Isn't there any way, you can look into this further? I would hate to switch to Google or Microsoft.

Hello there,

Thanks for your patience.

We have implemented a fix in our systems, and now you should be able to translate to Portuguese - BR using DeepL without experiencing issues related to incorrect translations to Portuguese - PT.

Please make sure to update to the latest version of WPML, and give it a try. Thank you.

Hi Mateus,
thank you so much for letting me know! As far as I can see the translations are fine now. However, I set the whole site to automatic translation and took note of the error only afterwards 🙁 So almost everything (150 articles) is now translated into PT-PT in the translation editor (not published yet). Is there a way to reset the content in the editor?
Thanks,
Tatiana

Hi Tatiana,

Thanks for your reply.

This is only possible if you reset WPML by going to WPML -> Support -> Troubleshooting -> 'Reset' section at the bottom of the page. However, this would mean to lose all WPML data you have so far. Ensure to have a backup if you're going to try that.

Please check our related doc fore more info: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/deleting-languages-and-plugin-data-by-doing-a-wpml-reset-on-your-site/

If you still have further doubts on this, please do not hesitate in asking. Thank you.
