This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client reported that a customer who has been translating content for years suddenly received a message stating "You can only edit translations assigned to you" and could no longer translate products. The client confirmed that the user was listed as a translator and translation manager. The client suspected a permissions issue and created a new role with the same rights, which resolved the problem.
Solution:
We suggested that the issue might be related to permissions and advised the client to confirm if the new role with the same rights fixed the issue. If you're experiencing a similar problem where a translator suddenly loses the ability to edit translations, we recommend checking the user roles and permissions, possibly using a plugin like Advanced Access Manager to adjust them. If creating a new role with the appropriate rights resolves the issue, then it was likely a permissions problem.

If this solution doesn't look relevant to your situation, please open a new support ticket with us.

Hello support team,

3) This customer has been translating content from her webshop for x number of years, but she says that since a short time she no longer has rights to translate products. Suddenly the message "You can only edit translations assigned to you" The customer says she never had this problem before. I went to look at translators and translation managers and she is listed there as well.

Thanks in advance for this.

I have performed the above steps, but this does not solve the problem. I still get the messages "You can only edit translations assigned to you".

Hi,

Please give me an example of the problematic products. Also, I would need to look closely at your site, so I would need to request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP)
Preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated.

Your answer will be private, meaning only you and I can access it.

❌ Please backup your database and website ❌

✙ I would need your permission to de-activate and re-activate the Plugins and the Theme and change configurations on the site. This is also a reason the backup is critical.

✙ I also need your permission to take a local copy of your site to debug the issue without affecting your live site.

Best regards,
Osama

Hi,

Thanks for the access details. I checked some products and tried translating them, which worked as expected.

Please let me know one of the problematic products so I can check it.

Also, please login using the provided account and check if you can translate the products.

Best regards,
Osama

That's right, the login I created for you has full admin rights. The other users do not have admin rights. The user role they use has pretty much all rights except some capabilities (level 10, delete and install plugins, update core) To rule out a problem with that (the user role was created with Advanced Access Manager) I created a new role with the same rights and assigned it to my client. And believe it or not, it does work now. I did not consider that the cause could be in the user role.

I'll test it again with the client tomorrow, but I suspect this issue is also resolved.

Thanks!
Best regards,
Marino

Hi Marino,

Thanks for your update. It could be a permissions issue. Please let me know if the new role fixed the issue.

Best regards,
Osama
