Background of the issue:
I am assigning an article for translation. The article is created with Zion Page Builder.

Symptoms:
The word count in Translation Manager shows 255 words, but after exporting into XLIFF file, it shows 4280 words. In the Advanced Translation Editor, it asks for more than 4000 credits to automatically translate this article.

Questions:
Why is there a discrepancy in the word count between Translation Manager and the XLIFF file?
Why does the Advanced Translation Editor ask for more than 4000 credits for this article?

Hi,

Please read the article about how WPML's word count works.

https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/getting-a-word-count-of-your-wordpress-site/

You wrote: "The word count in Translation Manager shows 255 words, but after exporting into XLIFF file, it shows 4280 words."

Where and how do you see the word count in XLIFF files?
Was the count given to you by a Translation Service?

You wrote: "In the Advanced Translation Editor, more than 4000 credits are required to automatically translate this article."

This depends on the translation engine you selected.

DeepL = 2 credits per word
Google Translate = 2 credits per word
Microsoft = 1 credit per word.

In addition, it also depends on the number of languages you translate into.

You can read more about our automatic translation pricing here: https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/automatic-translation-pricing/

Regards,
Itamar.
