This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client needs to change the original language displayed in the WPML Advanced Translation Editor for a translator who does not speak the original language of the content. The content was initially in French, and the translator needs to see English on the left side instead of French when translating to Arabic.
Solution:
We explained that it is not possible to change the language displayed on the left side in the Advanced Translation Editor. This side always shows the default language in which the page was initially created. If you're experiencing this issue and need the translator to view a different source language, unfortunately, this cannot be adjusted for translations already done. For new translations, ensure the translator's settings are correctly set to translate from the desired source language.

If this solution does not apply to your case, or if it seems outdated, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. More details :

My site was translated from french to english and arabic.
French is the original content.
A person who don't speak french is going to proofread the arabic. When he opens the advanced translation editor, he sees arabic on the right and french content on the left. How can we display english on the left instead ?
I have set this translator settings as translations possible from english to arabic but it as no effect on a translations already done, right ?

Hi there.

Thank you for the extra information that you added in the second reply - that helped me better understand what you mean.

There's no way you can change the language on the left because, on the left, it will always be displayed the default language in which that page was initially created.
