This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is trying to create a bilingual homepage with Divi and WPML but encounters an issue where the 'Translations queue' shows 'No Data' after attempting to add a translation for the homepage. The client also wants to have an English page 'Home' and a corresponding French page with a different design.

Solution:
1. Ensure that the client's user account is added as a translator with the correct language pairs (English to French and French to English) in WPML > Translation Management > Translators tab. For more information, check the guide on how to set up local translators and language pairs.
2. If the client intends to create a different design for the second language and not just translate content, they should follow the guide on how to use manual translation to translate the page manually.

Hello,

I've just started building a bilingual site with Divi, and the first thing is, I'm running into a problem creating a bilingual homepage.

I'd like to have a page, let's call it "Home", in English, and to have that same page "Home" in French.

I've created "Home" in English by using "Add a new page" in the WordPress Pages menu (see screenshot 1).
Now I click "Add translation to French" and WPML's "Translations queue" opens. And... that's it. I can't do anything, because nothing appears: "No Data" (see screenshot 2).

I've tried searching for answers online, but I'm confused as to how this even works?

At this point, you see, there's nothing to translate yet. Perhaps there won't even be—I'm considering just having an image on this page, and nothing else. So I just want another empty page at this point, but assigned to French and linked to Home in English. (I don't need to export .XLIFF files or anything.)

I've even tried creating another page, assigning it to French, and then trying to link that page to the page in English, but I don't see how to do that either.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi,
Thanks for contacting WPML support.

Please go to WPML > Translation Management > Translators tab, and make sure that your user account is added as a translator and has the required language pairs to translate from English to French.

Please check this guide for more info: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/how-to-set-up-local-translators-and-language-pairs/#adding-local-translators-through-translation-management

Let me know please if that helps.

Kind regards,
Mohamed

Hello Mohamed,

Indeed, that was already the case. I go to Translation Management > Translators and my account is added as translator and has English > French and French > English as pairs.

Now when I go to the Translation Management > Dashboard tab, I see my page "Home" and there's a little hourglass, "Waiting for translator". I select that page "Home" and scroll down to reach "2. Select translation options".

I see that the page "Home" can be Translated into French (or Duplicate content or Do nothing). I also see however: "Some of the selected content is already being translated. This will cancel any in-progress translations."

Still, I click "Add to translation queue". I go to the Translations queue... and it's still empty.

I would just like to have a version of my empty "Home" page in French, much like when I translate a Menu, I immediately get a Menu in the other language that I can fill as I see fit.

Thank you for your help!

From what I understand, you're trying to create a different disgn for your second language.

If that's correct, please follow this guide to translate the page manually: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/using-different-translation-editors-for-different-pages/#how-to-use-manual-translation

Hello Mohamed,

Thank you for the link! Upon examination it looks like this is exactly what I needed, the flexibility of the Manual translation.

Then perhaps the "Translation queue" is empty simply because the current "Home" page contains no text...

I'm still working to understand how WPML works with Divi’s various elements, but I'll close this ticket as I have no further specific question for now. Thank you for your guidance!

Best,

A.S.
