This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client needed to add the Chichewa language, which is not included in WPML's default language options, and the custom language solution was not working.
Solution:
1. We confirmed that the correct language code for Chichewa is "ny".
2. We advised the client to create a custom language following the instructions provided in our documentation: Editing WPML's Languages Table.
3. We informed the client that automatic translation might not be available for Chichewa, as it is not supported by translation engines, which can be verified here: Supported languages for automatic translation.
4. We suggested that the client should use manual translation, with guidance available here: Using different translation editors for different pages.
5. Alternatively, we mentioned the possibility of mapping the custom language to a supported language if there is a similar one, with instructions here: How to map a custom language to a supported language.

If this solution doesn't look relevant, please open a new support ticket.

Hi, I need the Chichewa Language (spoken in parts of Malawi, Zambia, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe).
The option is not there and the custom language solution won't work.
Can you help me by setting up a new custom language or guide me on how I can integrate a new language apart from the set of option languages given by WPML by default?

Hi there.

I have never heard about this language but it seems that the correct language code for it is this: "ny"

This is what I found here:

I also did not find any existing tickets about this language.

So, you should be able to create a custom language as explained here (https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/editing-wpmls-languages-table/) but you will have no way to automatically translate - as it seems that this language is not supported by any of the translation engines:
hidden link (check this list)

So you will have to use manual translation more than likely:
https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/using-different-translation-editors-for-different-pages/

Or you can map your custom language to a supported language if one of them is similar to the one that you are using:
https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/using-automatic-translation-with-custom-languages/#how-to-map-a-custom-language-to-a-supported-language

I hope that you will find all this information helpful.
