This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are experiencing an issue where the Advanced Translation Editor (ATE) displays 9 images for translation, but only 5 images are visible on the frontend page.
Solution:
This discrepancy may occur if media was previously part of the content and then removed. To address this, follow these steps:
1. Navigate to your media library, switch to list view, and detach the media files from the content. This action will not remove the images from the content.
2. Go to WPML > Settings > Media Translation and uncheck the option "Translate media library texts with posts". This should resolve the issue temporarily.
3. For translating meta information, you can use WPML > Media Translation or directly inside the media library by changing the admin language in the top admin bar.

If this solution does not fully resolve your issue or seems outdated, we recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Background of the issue:
I am trying to figure out why ATE comes up with 9 images to translate while there are only 5 on the frontend page. Link to a page where the issue can be seen: hidden link

Symptoms:
I expected to see only 5 images to translate in ATE. Instead, I got 9 images to translate in ATE.

Questions:
Why does ATE show 9 images to translate when there are only 5 on the frontend page?
How can I ensure that ATE only shows the correct number of images to translate?

Hello,

This problem might be related to an issue that was recently escalated internally to our development team.

I am still waiting in feedback on this matter, but it was possible to recreate on a new test site that meta information for media did not update on the original content when opening the WPML Translation Editor.

Example:
Delete a file from the media librayr, then upload the same file again and add new meta information. The old meta information will still show up inside the WPML Translation Editor.

Is this the kind of problem that you are experiencing?

In your case, could it be the case that the media was in the past part of this content and then was removed from it?

Further, please go to the media library, change to list view and make sure to detach the media files from the content. This will not remove the images from the content.

Then go to WPML > Settings > Media Translation and uncheck the option "Translate media library texts with posts".

This should solve the issue for now. You can then use WPML > Media Translation for translating the meta information or translate it direclty inside the media libray by switching the admin language inside the top admin bar.

Best regards
Andreas

Yes, very much possible.

I will wait for WPML to be fixed.

>>>Then go to WPML > Settings > Media Translation and uncheck the option "Translate media library texts with posts"<<<

It is going to happen. When I do so, all my image texts disappear from the ATE.

It is NOT going to happen. When I do so, all my image texts disappear from the ATE.

Yes, indeed. This wouldbe expected if you disable this options.

You can still create the translations for the meta information at WPML > Media Translation or direclty inside the media library by switching the language inside the top admin bar.

Another workaround:

Go to you media library and switch to list view.

Now filter by using the "Uploaded to" columns, and here detach any unexpected image from the affected the content.

If the media is attached to the content inside the media libray it is expected that the media information shows up on the translation editor. It does not matter in this case if the media is actually part of the content or not.
