Tell us what you are trying to do?

- I'm translating pages by using the language selection in the top bar, when in the Gutenberg editor I just fill in the translation in the Gutenberg editor itself (for every page I just copy the content via the link in the righthand menu from another language)

This works ... however, In the righthand menu, you have the edit translation links that go to the advanced language editor, and there it doesn't fill in the translated text that I edited in Gutenberg directly... and when someone clicks on those links by mistake, it shows the gear icon, to show a translation is in the works...
However, I already have the page translated via Gutenberg..

So how can i disable this behaviour? Or remove those edit links from the righthand widgets?
(I don't want my customer to get confused and keep it as simple as possible)

Or what is the normal way of doing this?... I like just translating the Gutenberg blocks in the Gutenberg editor directly, so no need for those links that lead to the advanced editor where all text is displayed in seperate content blocks...

Hope it's a bit clear what I'm trying to accomplish 😉
Thx for the help!

Hello,

We appreciate you reaching out to WPML support.

I'm afraid I'm not entirely clear on your request. Could you please provide a screenshot to help illustrate what you're referring to? Additionally, it would be helpful if you could specify which behavior you're trying to disable and which edit link you wish to remove.

I'm talking about these links (see screenshot)
I'm not sure why they are there, when I already copied the page in Gutenberg and changed the txt to the right language in the Gutenberg editor itself... so normally I don't need those.
.. and if you click them, it asks for translations of the content fields, however they are already filled in, in the Gutenberg editor...

Thanks for your reply. Could you reattach the screenshot? (Try using smaller-sized images) Then I'll check and see if this can be done.

Thanks for your reply. If you need to hide that section, here is the option shown in the attached screenshot.

ok, that works... however then I also loose the option to copy content from another language..?!
My question is more if I'm using it correctly, or not, by copying the content and editing directly in Gutenberg? .... and that it's strange that when you do that, that the fields in the translation editor stay empty, while I actually copied it from another language, and then changed the copy (I was expecting that the translated copy would then also show up in the translation editor when you click those links)

Thanks for your reply.

Are you using the duplicate feature? https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/displaying-untranslated-content-on-pages-in-secondary-languages/#duplicating-content . If you duplicate it, all options including custom fields will be copied over also.

You can enable the option and duplicate the content, then hide that option when you forward it to your client.

No I don't use dupicate, I use the copy feature ... because I want the same block structure, and content structure, but I want translated copy for each language.

Thanks for your reply.

Could you enable this option "Show "Multilingual Content Setup" meta box on post edit screen." in WPML > Settings > Custom Fields Translation? Then, on the primary language page, scroll to the bottom and select the "Copy Once" option for the fields that you'd like to copy over to your translated page when translating.

Would this help? Or do you need further explanation?
